I don't know that I really need an introduction - most people have already encountered me through fandom and female-centric fics, so it's not as though they don't know what they're getting into, right?
Eh.
Female characters, usually also women who take action, women of colour, and droll stoics. I write mostly het and gen with a squidge of slash here and there where I see it. I just prefer writing (and reading) about women, and I have ever since I was 10 and tried to plot a Star Wars AU where Luke turned to the Dark Side and Leia had to save him and the galaxy instead.
Current fandoms are Pacific Rim (Mako Mori!) and MCU (Maria Hill!), but previous ones have been Stargate SG1 (Sam Carter!) and Stargate Atlantis (Teyla Emmagan!), Sanctuary (Kate Freelander!), Merlin (Guinevere!), and Justice League (Diana!). And then there are female characters that I love but didn't write a whole heap about in their various fandoms: Ziva David from NCIS, Faith Lehane from Buffy/Angel, Uhura from Star Trek Reboot...
I'd like to get into watching Agents of SHIELD (if only for MCU background), Veronica Mars (a RL friend tells me I'll love VM), and Sleepy Hollow (I want to, but it's sooooo haaaaard to make myself sit down and watch) at least. If you happen to have a plan for watching these (ie. episodes on a Saturday/Sunday with chatting) let me know!
I rant every now and then; if I hit a button of yours while ranting, please know that it's not personal. I see a lot of things that frustrate and infuriate me on Tumblr and in life and in fic (Mako Mori: Bridezilla? Yeah, NOPE.) and sometimes I just need to type out my thoughts in some semblance of order and get it out so there's room for me to concentrate on other things.
I haven't been using my journals very much lately, but I'm finding that I'm missing the conversations that I had with people. I got halfway through the January Blogmeme earlier this year, but stalled midway due to...stuff happening.
My fics will all be posted up at AO3 as I write them, and ff.net when I have the time to put them there - and, according to what ff.net permits (which basically means no smut).
Finally, I'll actually be cutting the ficcing short in the next couple of months - I've decided to write original fiction from at least Easter to Pentecost. Exactly how this is going to stand up in the wake of Captain America 2, I don't know. If there's a Sudden Steve/Maria Romance in contravention of comics and the Inevitable Destiny Of A Tough Woman Who Isn't A Romantic Interest (ie. she's destined to become the Heinous Bitch Of Evil in a future movie) then ALL BETS ARE OFF.

Any questions?

a Star Wars AU where Luke turned to the Dark Side and Leia had to save him and the galaxy instead.
I would read that.
I like Pacific Rim and have found the characterization of Mako to be uneven, so I don't really seek anything out unless it's rec'd or I know the author. I mostly participate around the edges of it. Not sure if you're interested in vids, but I thought this vid was a wonderful tribute to the movie and while it's ensemble and not Mako-centric, you might enjoy it. (I beta'd, so I might be biased)
I like SHIELD in a popcorn sort of way - I only know MCU from movies and this show but still find it very accessible. I really like May a lot. I'm looking forward to Captain America 2 - Chris Evans is never not a good idea.

I have been wanting to read that for YEARS, now. (8 was a long time ago for me.) Never found it. Maybe one of these years. :)
I suspect I know exactly where you're coming from re: Mako's characterisation. Fanfic seems to swing her from cutesy girl with little to no difference to a Cali girl, to dead-boring drone who makes observations without humour or any kind of intelligence.
I don't that SHIELD is ever going to be more than a popcorn show for me; invested as I am in the MCU, I don't see AoSHIELD being anything significant there.

/Inevitable Destiny Of A Tough Woman Who Isn't A Romantic Interest/ - LOL
/she's destined to become the Heinous Bitch Of Evil in a future movie/ - Oh, like a Civil War one? But then she'd get to save the day by keeping Tony Stark's brain inside his skull while on the run by the "law".... :D

I feel like they're going to at least touch on the Civil War in the MCU - it's really too much to pass up as far as conflict and action goes: Steve vs. Tony & Maria. And if Maria gets sacrificed on the altar of Heinous Bitch Of Evil, well, that's nothing. Women are either side dishes or evil bitches. It's there in the Hollywood Handbook. Or something. *makes "it's always been done that way" hands*
I think a Civil War storyline would be kind of awesome (if they did it well, which means having a lot of the 'hero' characters split down the middle, including fan-favourites being on the side of Registration and explaining why they think it's a good idea). I'm really really doubtful about the ability of fandom to make the fine distinctions of "she's acting consistent with what she believes is a problem, even if we disagree" vs. "she's being a bitch to our heroes and she needs to go down burning". I mean, there were people bitching on her for a) reporting Clint to the Council, b) not supporting the Avengers initiative, c) not telling Fury about the second jet (the one with the nuke).
Basically: people these days and the ability to see things from the other side, or even concede that the other side might have some kind of a point? Yeah, nope.

A Civil War-ispired storyline would be so incredibly awesome! Even if I as well would be terrified that they'll screw it all up, despite my faith in Mr. Whedon.
ETA: Sorry, just remembered you don't read comics, don't you? *facepalm*
That bit about Maria saving a fugitive Tony (and his brain :D) was referred to the "Secret Invasion" and "Dark Reign" arcs that directly followed the "Civil War" one.
Basically, S.H.I.E.L.D is taken over by Norman Osborn, who his after Tony 'cause he downloaded the names of every superhero who registered during the Civil War (while also deleting every other existing data). Maria basically keeps him alive while on the run (long story, his tech doesn't work anymore). They even develop a (sort of) relationship (it's complicated... :D) and we get to see a more multi-faced portal of her character.
In short, Maria > you! ;)

It comes up quite regularly on tumblr under the maria hill hashtag. Although lately there's been a lot of X-Men ("do we have a time machine? do the X-men have a time machine? can I send someone back in time to kill Hank McCoy before he creates a time machine?"), and Maria vs. Bruce Banner.
I'm not sure one can really get multi-faceted portrayals of female characters in movies that are primarily about the male characters. There's just not enough time and space - let alone mental flexibility in the primary audience.

Also LOL now it's my turn to confess I'm not really caught up with with the comic-side of the fandom. At least the more recent storylines. :D Following Marvel comics is, like, a constant endeavor and lately I'm only keeping up with the Hawkeye and Black Widow solo comics... :D
