apocalypse halp?

I'm getting stuck on zombie apocalypses, Stargate apocalypses (the Goa'uld take over the world), vampire apocalypses (like Buffy, only the vampires take over), Avengers 1 apocalypses (Loki and the Chitauri win), and Terminator apocalypses (war against the machines).

Most of which are pretty specific.

...what are other apocalypses? (Prefer common-knowledge ones that don't require I read all the YA dystopia I can lay my hands on...)

eta: just remembered - MAD MAX FURY ROAD. (Of course!)

Biblical apocalypses, weather-related apocalypses, nuclear apocalypse.

My brain is sadly stuck on the FANDOM setting like those old light switches that require a really good push before they stay in place!

Also! Godzilla/dinosaurs. King Kong? Aliens not led by an evil godling. Pandemic.

The premise in The 100 is that the bombs went off. We have 3 major groups 1) the ones that escaped to an orbiting space platform and eventually had to come back when the place was falling apart (space station living acclimatized them to the higher radiation on the planet 2) the group that road out the radiation. A hard century reorganizing into tribes, making the hard choices when a baby was born with deformities, etc... 3)The group that holed up in the fallout shelter with hydroponic gardens, electricity and books -- this group has the major disadvantage that they didn't acclimatize to the ambient radiation and are basically trapped in the shelter.

Snow Crash by Neil Stevenson... not post=apoc exactly, more cyberpunk. World governments collapse and everything is run by corporations. Various parts of the world are subject to mass uprisings.

Oh, you could go with a classic - post-plague world where 60-80% of the population is wiped out.

Thanks for that - I have friends who watch The 100 and really enjoy it, but while I know the basic premise, I've never seen (or asked for) a more detailed precis on the situation. :)

I'm not sure I can. I loved the movie, but I have to go back and watch it a second time, and then decide exactly what stories I'm going to be telling...

Meteor-hits-the -earth apocalypses?

Large portions of the population mysteriously disappear/die and no one knows why apocalypses?

Supernatural creature invasion (fairies? Demons? Other mythological things) apocalypses?

The Old Ones Awake apocalypses?

Climate related apocalypses?

Weird mystic/occult apocalypses?
