Trope Bingo
I haven't finished my cards for the last couple of years. Haven't even gotten close.
I got three fics completed in 2014 (AU:other, metafiction, curtainfic), and only one more in 2015 (soulbonds/soulmates, jock dad/nerd son, fusion, and secret relationship) although I had notes for a bunch of others, and about 1K written for fuck or die.
Last year, I didn't like some of the options they gave - they were trying to mix writers and artists and the results were...mixed. ("Dagwood sandwich? What kind of a prompt is that?") This year, they've separated out the streams, but I'm thinking I shouldn't get a new card.
Do I need prompts to get me going? Not really. My brain produces more than enough ideas for me to run with, and I have a pretty clear window of opportunity since the characters/dynamics I like to write about aren't commonly examined in fanfic.
So I think I might post my Trope Bingo fics as an Amnesty, and just leave it at that.
profic
On Friday night I have a writing date with a friend at a cafe that's open 6pm until 'late'. And I have promised to work on my profic, not on fanfic.
Also: is there anyone willing to take on the job of reading half a historical fantasy story set in Tang Dynasty China? I read it through myself and I like it, but I don't know if it's just that I like it because I wrote it and it's actually a big colossal mess for someone else's brain to wade through. Possibly about 30K right now?
fanfic
Sokovia, Suburbia, and the Senate is kind of turning into curtainfic. I mean, it's Steve Rogers and Maria Hill in suburbia, so, yeah, a certain amount of domesticity was always going to happen as a by-product of where they are and the circumstances they're facing. (No, they're not picking out curtains, but he overestimated his energy levels in recovery and ended up spending the evening asleep on the couch while she did paperwork. It's that kind of fic.)
I guess I'm just nervous about boring the audience. Where's the action? Where's the kissing? Where's the sex?
Guess I'll finish this section and turn it over to the beta so she can tell me if it's a snoozefest or not.
Don't even ask about a practical acquaintance with bees. I feel like it's so AU from canon at this point that by the time I finish it, nobody will even want to read it. (I know, this is not how fandom works, particularly after A:AoU, but the things that I imagine most people want to be AU are not AU and the things that people don't want to be AU will be AU. It's like the AU that changes everything most people love about the canon.)
And I still need to watch Agents of SHIELD S2. *grumps*

And I don't know really anything about Tang dynasty China, but I'd be willing to read your story.
