So, this is going to be the biggest, craziest post ever.

Because: cosplay.

We'll start with my roomies, [livejournal.com profile] andveryginger and her DH, as the Black Widow and Hawkeye:

Atlanta dragoncon

Pretty awesome, eh? [livejournal.com profile] andveryginger made both costumes herself - including the 'light up' piping on the Widow costume. They got the quiver specially made (and that sucker was heavy.

Of course, I didn't get photos of everything - that's just not possible. Plus, on Thursday and Friday I was in the writing course, Saturday was half taken up by the parade, and Sunday was meeting with [livejournal.com profile] cailetr who I've known longer than I've been on LJ!

Yeesh, has it been that long?

Anyway, let the cosplay photos begin!

mostly MCU
My roomies:

And prepping:

I really do like this photo: Domestic Scene With Master Assassins.

There was no shortage of Marvel characters, including this wonderful Falcon & son:
Atlanta dragoncon

Adorable!

So, too, is this Cap who's running for the parade start with his BabyCap:
Atlanta dragoncon

This really good Sinister (I have no idea who the other one was). Unfortunately I didn't get the pic of Sinister's cloak, which was the bit I really wanted):
Atlanta dragoncon

Peggy Carter: Captain America!
Atlanta dragoncon

And Cap!Peggy with the Winter Soldier:
Atlanta dragoncon

Maria Hill! (The only one I saw all weekend,
although I was told there were a few others.)
Atlanta dragoncon

A femme!Winter Soldier
whose GoogleMapping I interrupted for a photo:

An adorable (if oversize) Rocket:
Atlanta dragoncon

And this amazing Hawkgirl
(seh needed an assistant to spread her wings):
Atlanta dragoncon

I didn't get to the parade last time, so going this time was rather enjoyable. Although very warm and rather crowded. And we ended up having to walk through a rather questionable part of town to reach the point in the parade where we were going to watch from.

when the parade passes by
Hey, watch where you're waving that thing!
Atlanta dragoncon

Superman, Superboy, and...Superdog?
Atlanta dragoncon

Obi-Wan, that's a really bad place to put your hand for the photo:
Atlanta dragoncon

Totally forgotten who these people were -
but they were in a rush to get to the parade start!

Atlanta dragoncon

There were quite a few of those along the way...

What's the group plural for bounty hunters?
A catch of bounty hunters?
Atlanta dragoncon

There were sure enough of them!
Atlanta dragoncon

And a quidling bounty hunter!
Atlanta dragoncon

Lord Vader finds your lack of photos of him disturbing:
Atlanta dragoncon

Leia, on the other hand, was probably one of the most comfortable
at least in terms of appropriate dress levels for the temperature:
Atlanta dragoncon

Also: LEMMINGS!
Atlanta dragoncon

An insanity of Deadpools in the parade:
Atlanta dragoncon

And Deadpool: the 13th Doctor.
Atlanta dragoncon

That's really rather terrifying, actually.

So when there's something weird,
and it don't look good:
Who ya gonna call?

Atlanta dragoncon

Okay, so maybe for a mess like the Dragon*Con parade, you'll call the cops:
Atlanta dragoncon

(This was them trying to get people off the road after the parade.)

It has to be said that the city of Atlanta was viciously unprepared for DragonCon. And that the DragonCon organisers were not really that well-organised.

The lobby of the Mariott was almost always a crush. There were people in line everywhere, many of them sitting down and blocking access ways for other people. And the place would be in trouble if there was a bomb scare: evacuation would not be possible.

There are ways to manage this. Yes, there are. Ticket dispensers for halls and talks - particularly the more popular ones outside the ballrooms that have lines several hundred people long. One ticket for four people's entry. You get your ticket, go away, and turn up to take your place. Lose your ticket? Too bad, go back and get another one.

Or limit the number of people who can attend the convention.

70,000 people were there - apparently six years ago, when I last attended, it was half that. It's crazy. And dangerous.

Anyway, enough about that. More photos:

Star Wars:

The Avengers:
Atlanta dragoncon

THEY HAD A HELEN CHO WITH THEM.

We chatted, shared about how difficult it was to find Asian characters to cosplay, and it was awesome.

Another Avengers (and Marvel associates) groupshot:
Atlanta dragoncon

Another insanity of Deadpools:
Atlanta dragoncon

A quiver of Hawkeyes:
Atlanta dragoncon

Oh, and some Peggy-and-the-Howling-Commandoes:
Atlanta dragoncon

Protip: if you're a Captain America without either a Howling Commandos, a Bucky, a Peggy, or an Avengers, don't drift at the edges of the groups taking photos like you want to be invited. Walk in, introduce yourself, and chat. The number of Caps I saw looking like they'd really like to be in photos but not actually asking? Ridiculous.

Anyway, that's my photos. I only have one of me in my cosplay: Victorian steampunk.

Atlanta dragoncon

Not very elaborate, I fear!

So: DragonCon. It's basically Geek Mardi Gras.

It's pretty much Geek Mardi Gras. #dragoncon2015 #roundtheworldwithsel

There'll be one more post about Atlanta: little bit and pieces and people.

And then I'll post about California (here we come).
