So, this is going to be the biggest, craziest post ever.

Because: cosplay.

We'll start with my roomies, [livejournal.com profile] andveryginger and her DH, as the Black Widow and Hawkeye:

Atlanta dragoncon

Pretty awesome, eh? [livejournal.com profile] andveryginger made both costumes herself - including the 'light up' piping on the Widow costume. They got the quiver specially made (and that sucker was heavy.

Of course, I didn't get photos of everything - that's just not possible. Plus, on Thursday and Friday I was in the writing course, Saturday was half taken up by the parade, and Sunday was meeting with [livejournal.com profile] cailetr who I've known longer than I've been on LJ!

Yeesh, has it been that long?

Anyway, let the cosplay photos begin!

various cosplays - mostly MCU )

I didn't get to the parade last time, so going this time was rather enjoyable. Although very warm and rather crowded. And we ended up having to walk through a rather questionable part of town to reach the point in the parade where we were going to watch from.

It has to be said that the city of Atlanta was viciously unprepared for DragonCon. And that the DragonCon organisers were not really that well-organised.

The lobby of the Mariott was almost always a crush. There were people in line everywhere, many of them sitting down and blocking access ways for other people. And the place would be in trouble if there was a bomb scare: evacuation would not be possible.

There are ways to manage this. Yes, there are. Ticket dispensers for halls and talks - particularly the more popular ones outside the ballrooms that have lines several hundred people long. One ticket for four people's entry. You get your ticket, go away, and turn up to take your place. Lose your ticket? Too bad, go back and get another one.

Or limit the number of people who can attend the convention.

70,000 people were there - apparently six years ago, when I last attended, it was half that. It's crazy. And dangerous.

Anyway, enough about that. More photos:

these ones are mostly group shots in the Hilton foyer )

So: DragonCon. It's basically Geek Mardi Gras.

It's pretty much Geek Mardi Gras. #dragoncon2015 #roundtheworldwithsel

There'll be one more post about Atlanta: little bit and pieces and people.

And then I'll post about California (here we come).

Goal for D*C.

Agent of SHIELD dress: halterneck, close-fitting bodice with waistband and flared skirt to be worn with petticoats. Black/dark-grey silk with gunmetal overdress/lace edging, and embroidered/beaded/appliqued SHIELD logo to either be on skirt or else as a back cutout (underarm zipper), with HYDRA-themed underskirt.

Or else a Maria Hill outfit from AoU - the dresses she wears at the tower!

Yes, yes, I know. Shush.
