Yes, I get the feeling that Teyla is more of an 'inconvenience' than a character to the Shweirs - and that Teyla/Ronon is convenience shipping for the Shweir and McShep portions of the fandom. Especially given the way canon and the actor interviews run.
A large body of my experience is that the Shep/Teyla fans like Teyla, but they're more interested in her as part of a romantic couple rather than as a character whose relationship with John Sheppard has a sexually/emotionally attracted component to it.
As you've probably guessed, I'm a fan of the latter: Teyla as her own woman, and her interest in John/John's interest in her as part of her life, but not the whole of her being.
So while a whole bunch of Shep/Teyla shippers are all hoping for 'resolution' in Season Four, I'm just hoping for more Teyla. In fandom and in canon.
