Writer's Meme: Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five favorite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
Often, the best things I've written are the things I love most. Okay, except for Unasked, Granted, which I adore for the angsty!John angle.
And In That Dreaming Weep: John/Teyla - I loved the tension in this one, the way I got description and action in, plus the flashback, Teyla's dead team-mates, and John!angst. It's powerful, if not as visceral as Yield.
Scar Tissue: John/Teyla, Teyla/Rodney, Rodney/Ronon, Ronon/John - this is the ultimate multipairing story for me. It's short and very hard R, but I'm so pleased that I managed to write about the team!love. And the lyrics just fitted - it was fate!
Where The Running Stops: no pairings for this one, just the team being friends and hanging out. I wish there were more fics like this - ones that use all the team and emphasise relationships between them all, not just John-and-Rodney or John-and-Elizabeth. Unfortunately, human nature being what it is, the romance will always overshadow anything else. :-/
Different: Teyla/Zelenka - one of my earliest attempts at a Teyla/someone else fic. It still tickles me that I manage to make the pairing work in my own head. Although I'm still embarrassed that I even mentioned it to David Nykl. *facepalms*
In The Game: John/Teyla, high school AU. I think it's the fact that this is new, and conforms with a slightly updated view of the characters from the show (circa Season 3) as compared to Wrong Kind Of Guy which was more of a Season 2 view of the characters. Plus, John-Teyla-Michael triangle. (Still in progress, but I like the idea...I just have to get it done.)
Can I get a bonus in? Sensitivity: my first longer, action-adventure story. No pairings, assorted UST, and an enjoyably tense situation. I still have a great fondness for this one - the characters are in-character, the idea got carried over from an SG-1 idea I had long before, and it was written on the 'high' of knowing exactly what I wanted to write and how to write it.
Uh, skip the whole 'five favourite fics' bit. Considering how many I've written, restricting to just five is cruel and unusual.
I guess the thing that is always present in my stories - even the ones about pairings - is the sense that what is happening is occuring in the broader scope of Atlantis and the Pegasus galaxy. If it's a plot story, then I try to give as many characters a key role as possible - particularly the main ones. If it's a romance, then there are other people about - people whose views and feelings and thoughts have to be accounted for as well as the couple. And I like the interactions between the four team-members - both in a friendly and a possibly-more sense. Hence Scar Tissue.
Tag people? Um? Do this meme if you want to do it, not because I named and shamed you!
