the Eva Knit dress

Sewing post ahoy!

The Eva Knit Dress is a pattern which won some kind of dressmaking pattern-drafting competition a few years back (2013?) and people who sew their own clothes were all gaga over it.

However, a little surprisingly, it's really difficult to find pictures of it on Instagram, and equally difficult to locate decent links on Pinterest.

Nevertheless, I figured I'd make a 'muslin' of it, out of a fabric that I've had for about 10 years and used in two projects (the Number Six Cylon dress, and a summer 'lounge' wrap).

Thank you! It was a bit stressful wondering if I was screwing everything up with the seams (I used a 'lightning' stitch, but I probably should have just used a standard zig-zag) but I'm pleased with the result!

The fabric has wonderful drape! I'm kind of sorry that this is the end of it. (On the other hand, it is a very unrelenting scarlet...)

It's been a skill long left to gather dust, and I've only picked it up again the last five years and with variable success (at least style-wise). But this is something of a triumph considering I've never properly worked with knits before.
