But the gin and tonic with a slice of lime is pleasantly warming.
Although with today's temps being easily 30C, possibly 32C (about 80F), 'warm' is not necessarily something that we want.
Came back negative with the PCR test, so that's a relief. Mum has also now come back negative on RAT, and the stepdad is still negative. So...that was a kind of annoying interruption to our Boxing Day plans.
I haven't really done a garden update in forever.
We have two new baby chooks - did I mention that? I can't remember what I've typed in here vs anywhere else on the internet. Anyway, two new chooks - coop-ready Quambys, which are an Australian developed breed for laying but also for longevity. So hopefully they will be with us for some time!

I have been doing quite a lot in the garden. Usually during the crazy hot parts of the day. It's weird, because I don't want to do anything when it's cool or rainy, but warm up the weather and suddenly I want to be out there, working on my melanomas...uh, garden.
We are getting a handful of raspberries every couple of days. Meanwhile, my mother's blueberries have gone cray-cray. There's so many of them that when you're picking them, you drop one and don't even bother to stoop to pick it up. She has about eight to ten bushes and they are all ridiculously healthy and doing really well.
We have one blueberry bush; it's not doing great, but it's not doing terrible either. It's in a solo pot which is it's own set of problems, namely watering. Still, it's doing pretty well:
Otherwise, the corn is pollinating, a couple of silverbeets are doing their level best to produce leaves while another has decided it's been around for a couple of years and can afford to go to seed. The chooks got into my herb bed this afternoon (dammit, and I forgot to go back and fix it up after I chased them out) and now my basil and coriander and onions are A MESS. Oh well, tomorrow morning, bright and early.
Also pretty good: the peach harvest this year:
I am once again schooling people on the internet about the need to fully net trees now that the Queensland Fruit Fly has made it all the way down to northern Victoria:
No, it's not pretty, but it's needful if you want any kind of a harvest!
Friday, I'm going up to Lismore, hitching a lift with a couple of friends. We'll be staying four days - Friday through to Tuesday, and it should be good.
I've just posted the first chapter of a Black Jewels Bridgerton story. We'll see how it goes.
