There were a couple of eps where they seemed to be overdoing the pink eyeshadow on Teyla. I'm glad they seem to be going for a colour that blends better with her skin.
(Personally, I find it better than the liquid eyeliner they used on Torri during the S2 promos.)
Yeah, I thought the super long hair of the pilot was a horrifying color, but the length suited her character, I thought. Her hair did not look professionally styled then.
The S3 style is too well cut and recognizably suburban for me. I would have liked to have Teyla mention that she styled her hair after some of the earth women she has seen. That would have been a character specific reason for the change in style.
Why am I even talking about hair, when there hasn't been a decent Teyla ep since forever?
Kinda OT, but does anyone know how old Rachel Latrell is? That info seems to be the best kept secret since the real identity of Deep Throat.
Also, these three incredibly beautiful women must have pissed off someone in the PR Dept., because none of them look their best in these promos. I don't want the pics photoshopped to death, but there is a thing called "lighting."
I have no idea how old Rachel Luttrell is. I imagine she's in her very late twenties or early thirties - but I'm a dreadful judge of age based on appearance!
Rachel's pic looks fine to me. As far as I'm concerned, Amanda's beginning to show some of the lines of her age group (she's got good bone structure, though). But, yeah, the pic of Jewel seems to be from an episode, not a promo-shot. Still...
I wonder who we can poke for the promos for S4. Joe Mallozzi keeps reiterating that it's not him.
Rachel's pic is the best of the lot, though her expression is more Rachel than Teyla, if you know what I mean. As for age, I figure that RL is more like 34-37 just based on her IMBD info. She played an adult on Forever Knight 15 years ago, so I'm making an educated guess. I was just curious.
Amanda isn't a young thing anymore but on SG-1, her skin always looked amazing. Chubbiness in the cheeks like AT has, tends to give people a more youthful appearance. In fact, in S10 of SG-1, she looked younger than Claudia Black.

That's really funny! I was just thinking that I thought they looked very good to me in these. I'm not sure what it is about the pictures that wasn't appealing to you, but to me, they looked lovely because they didn't seem too heavily made up and looked like real people, rather than looking plasticky like women so often do in sci-fi. (My husband makes fun of me for mocking the lip gloss on Doctor Who, but my God, their makeup department puts it on with a TROWEL!) I found these pictures very refreshing and pleasant to look at.
I like Rachel's make-up. I think the move is to make these ladies look more *natural*, to let their own *beauty* shine though. And if they were real working women in their line of work, make-up would be the last thing you would worry about - LOL!!
True, true. I dig the women on BSG for the same reason. With the exception of the President, they all tend to have the post-apocalyptic soldier "no makeup" look. But, a long time ago, I came to accept that the soldiers, scientists, and primitive alien women of the Stargateverse have uncanny access to Mac cosmetics.
I don't know if you watched Farscape, but Claudia Black's Aeryn Sun rarely wore make-up, so when she did it made her look strange. However, I remember reading though that Claudia had control over that.
Back on topic: Racheal wears very little makeup as a rule, so I think it was as mentioned, more the lighting than anything.
Heh. ALong with everyone knowing American English, the makeup thing is simething you just have to accept about SG.
And, oh, I am definitely a Scapey. That was one of the best "appearance" decisions that the made for CB in seasons 1-2. She was a soldier, and she didn't have to do a darn thing to attract sexual attention. All she had to do was stand there being Aeryn sun.
In season three, CB's makeup became more obvious--she had a certain glow about her face, but by season 4, she had begun to wear full on makeup.

Eeeek, Kaylee is joining SGA? Man :( I mean she's cute, but I find her kinda annoying. Especially her voice.

*wonders how RL would look with some gold eyeshadow*

Truly, there should be at least a couple of decent Teyla eps in S4, though.

(Incidentally, I think you've responded to the post itself, not to the comment you were intending to respond to.)
