Fly The Stars

In brief:
When Ronon's family is slaughtered by Reavers as a child, he makes a new home among the Athosians. But, unknown to him, there's a war coming, and things are going to change.

Chapter 1: Walk The Air
Ronon remembered the warm affection of her embrace long after the ship had cleared atmo and Teyla was gone from Pegasus.

Chapter 2: Anchor In Storms
Nearly everyone else believed she'd come back a proper lady - like the ones that occasionally came through town and sneered behind their fine clothing and expensive makeup at the simply-dressed locals and their 'quaint' customs. Ronon knew better.

Chapter 3: The Prodigy Returning
Teyla strode down the ramp, the coloured material of her long tunic billowing out behind her in gilt-thread profusion as she came home.

Chapter 4: Going To Waste
She'd come back the same in the essentials. But something else had changed.

Chapter 5: Out Of Temptation
Teyla had been so insistent on placing herself out of the way, out of public sight. Now Ronon wondered if she'd been placing herself out of temptation's path.

Chapter 6: Dogs of War
Ronon thought of that kind of prejudice - that kind of bigotry - running his world, dictating his choices, looking down on his people. Better to fight and lose than to submit tamely to that.

Chapter 7: Choosing Resistance
He never asked what the Academy had done to her to want her back.

Chapter 8: Acts Of Peace
They'd fought and they'd lost. The Alliance would manage their lives, from birth to death. Ordered. Organised. Sanitized. Registered. A bitter pill to swallow, but one they'd learn to live with.

Chapter 9: The Answer, Yes
Ronon wouldn't have minded skipping out himself, but something in him said 'Stay.'

Chapter 10: A City Arising
It's harder to sue for peace than prepare for war.

Very cool of you to make this list. I just came across this story a few days ago and I was saving it for when I had a chance to read. Because this entry came up on my FL (via the SGA notice board), I was able to add the last few chapters.

Just one question: in what I had saved the other day, there was a chapter called "Going to Waste" (http://tielan.livejournal.com/190409.html) in between "The Prodigy Returning" and "Out of Temptation". Is that no longer part of the series? I just want to read it as you intended.

Thanks for writing and sharing this. I've been on the lookout for stories that focus on Ronon and Teyla.

I just finished reading it and I liked it a lot. In fact, I wish there more of it! It would be wonderful if the show took advantage of Teyla's character half as well. You captured her strength and inner calm and her leadership skills and made her whole and interesting. The Ronon point of view worked particularly well for that. And the fusion of the 2 universes was seamless. It makes me wish that I could see it unfold unscreen.

I think I have choc_fic friended, but I haven't had a chance to sift through the entries. I'll definitely take a look. :-) Thank you.

I could talk someone's ear off about what I think about Teyla's role on SGA, but I don't want to be a bore. Suffice it to say that I've come to accept that the sort of character development and plotting I want to see is not SGA's forte.

Since I still want to enjoy stories about Teyla and Ronon, I rely on fanfiction. Luckily, February is not too far away.

I like this a lot. The fusion worked really well, you made the SGA character fit in the Firefly universe seamlessly.
