Amusing setup if you know the premise. And, um, I don't imagine it's difficult to know the premise given that they advertise this every, oh, 15 minutes on SciFi for several hours before it actually screens.

This episode shall henceforth be known as The Episode Of Cute. Because, really, everyone in it is kinda adorable.

I wrote this pretty much while watching it through twice.

Rodney proposing. Wow. He's really not ready for this, is he? I'm sure that John's reaction means he's gay in someone's slashy mind, but, honestly? John's acting like a guy whose friend is about to get hitched and he didn't expect things to be heading that way so soon.

Hee. Teyla's the one who accesses the system. And John's being over-protective. Like, seriously.

Zelenka's a pigeon fancier! *giggles*

John and Teyla: his and hers computers. And here we go on the "issue that has to be addressed: Teyla after the birth." See my prediction post about Teyla's child for more details.

A catastrophist. How appropriate. Some of the Rodney/Katie interactions seem a little awkward - but I don't gather that they're either of them really social people. Rodney's fluent enough when he's talking about anything technical - anything he can state as right or wrong without a doubt, but he's definitely not social interactive of the year. And I suspect that Katie's fairly shy at heart. Definitely not a "comfortable fluid couple" right now.

"What were we talking about?" "You were going to cheer me up."

"Surprisingly, it's nothing Rodney did!" Oh, Radek. Your faith in Rodney reassures me immensely.

*laughs at John* "It's the ultimate answer to the question of life, the universe and everything."
Teyla's look says, "Oh, Ancestors. Earth people and their bizzarro references."

I was wondering if they'd have a scene like this: John and Teyla and the baby. Eeeee! The shipper in me says there's a moment when both of them forget that the child is allegedly Kanan's and it's just them and the intimacy of the moment... That's okay. Any other shipper worth their ship would say the same thing about their own pairing. :)

Hm. Okay. John's doing his Batman thing and we're only halfway into the episode. So...there should be another terrible event of tension and doom coming up. And not just him slipping, which will, according to the laws of drama, happen anytime.

Yep. He slipped. How predictable. Now, if this was proper drama, the thing would start to bend beneath his weight... Made the balcony! Whee!

Ronon and Jennifer's conversations are surprisingly intimate, given we haven't really seen that much stuff between them. But they're kinda cute. And the whole attempt to blast open the doors... "Are you ready?" "No."

Lorne has the cutest little headbob as he tells John that this is all the C4 he's got.

Ooh, Teyla, what the hell do you think you're doing? Good girl. *Phew* For a moment, I thought she was going to try to scale the city, pregnant and all... I mean, cool but crazy.

Hee. Sheppard, Lorne, Chuck, and unnamed girl who I sure hope isn't a redshirt. Chuck/girl technician ship! *facepalms* I can't believe I said that.

I want to call the technician-girl Edie. Because her mom was a flower child and thought the name was cool. Chuck/Edie ship!

Ooh! Radek gets to do cool saving-the-day stuff. I think he's a bit jealous of Rodney getting to save the day all the time. Unless he's supposed to get caught and stuck or something. And we need a translation of Radek's mutterings. Because I want to know what he talks to himself about while he's crawling through the ducts. You can just see David Nykl making it up as he goes along, having a great old time.

Keller as brainiac girl. And cute! And nearly kissage, but not quite! Muahahahaaa! The scene where they sorta slide together was a little surprising - I didn't think they'd be so physically comfortable so soon. But, clearly... *smirks*

RADEK SAVES THE DAY! I shall have to keep an eye out for genfic where Radek gloats. Subtly, of course, because Radek doesn't do the whole self-important thing.

Teyla and John give Ronon The Look. Soooo, are you guys...?

Ooh. Bittersweet ending. Poor Rodney, he moved things too early and it looks like that door's closed - not just physically but metaphorically, too.

--

Overall, I enjoyed.

I like that Rodney had nothing to do with the solution (although he hyperventilated enough to supply air to the whole city if they'd hooked up him), and that we see just how innately neurotic and problematic he is as a person.

I enjoyed the Keller/Ronon development, and the John/Teyla interactions about her pregnancy and the head's up on where it's going and where it can't go. I guess it all depends on how necessary the writers see Teyla - as compared to how necessary the fandom sees Teyla.

I need more icons from S4...

Ha. I'm surprised you didn't mention the very obvious of all girl/boy pairings. And I won't state the obvious regarding that obvious move regarding TPTB. And please also note that Sam was paired with someone very non-threatening (though even now I'm sure there is and has been tons of Sam/Zelenka fic).

And Ronon/Keller? Teh cute! I had smuttish fic thoughts regarding them.... ;-)

I do see John/Rodney subtext all over this ep, but to each fan her own reading.

I loved Ronon/Keller - that was all awesome and I hope that the writers don't drop the ball on them - that we get to keep seeing them interact. I also loved Sam and Zelenka in the elevator, not necessarily in a shippy way, but in a scientists working together an learning to respect each others abilities way. Their failed small talk was also hilarious :)

I agree that Rodney and Katie are over after this ep - if they go right back into happy cutsie dating couple in the next ep I'm going to be upset about the continuity.

Teyla was hugely more pregnant in this ep - there's that issue with taping the episodes out of order. She looked gorgeous - where does she get all those clothes? She must be going out to trading planets constantly just to keep herself in pretty swirly tops.

I had to LOL when I read this, because I had a lot of the exact same thoughts, especially on John's little trip up the side of Atlantis. In fact, I think I said it out loud, too. "It's about time for him to almost fall but catch himsel-- oh, there it is!" Heh. Ronon and Keller made me squee, I have to admit. Of course, nothing made me as happy as John, Teyla and the kid. I was like, "oh, look and mom and dad and their baby!"

You forgot to mention Radek totally checking out Sam's boobs when she lost the jacket, and then he looked like "what am I DOING checking out my boss's boobs??"

I have to agree with you on just about everything... but I also picked up a bit of a vibe - more than likely just geeky, hero-worship, but you never know with these writers - between Sam/Radek. I LOVED that he was the one to ultimately 'save the day' and I adored that Sam was the one that ultimately had the confidence in him to do so.

It seemed like Lorne and John might be a bit too used to Rodney being the one to apparently 'fix things'.

I also thought it was VERY cute how Radek stepped up to the plate. Jumping in when Sam said she'd climb through the vents, and how she easily stepped back to let someone under her command shine.

Too cute :-D

If you want to know what Radek says in any given episode, go to Gateworld's Dr.Zelenka's Complete translation and appreatiation page. Pajus translates them all for us.

Last night's was something along the lines of Jesus, what did I get myself into? Left not right God what's that smell etc.

I was wondering if they'd have a scene like this: John and Teyla and the baby.

I loved the look on John's face before she told him the baby was kicking. He's all O_o about delievering that baby. :)

Ronon/Keller FTW!
Saturday, January 19th, 2008 11:47 pm (UTC)
How awesome would it be if he actually had to? HEE.
Saturday, January 19th, 2008 11:46 pm (UTC)
I really liked how Keller and Ronon seemed to connect. It seems to me that the reason he kept showing up in the infirmary is because he kind of had a thing for her to begin with, and he's quite the hot piece of ass, so maybe that's why they seemed to connect so quickly. Then again, we don't know how long they were actually stuck in there together.

I liked how John seemed prepared to jump (well, climb) out a window as soon as Teyla started having issues. Concern for her wellbeing, or did he just not want to be around if she went into labor? ;)

It was so cute when she started feeling the baby kicking. John got all excited and walked right over and for all the awkwardness when he hugs someone, they seemed perfectly comfortable with his hand on her tummy.

I got mad at her when she climbed out the window, though. Obviously she wasn't going to scale the tower, so why take the risk? Grr.

And I saw him jumping out the window (which, I thought, was all kinds of awesome) as his need to do something so that he could get Teyla out of the room, because she was really stressing. It be like that sometimes. ;) We have to remember that though we, the audience, have known about Ronon's lost love on Sateda, Keller is the first person he actually talks about it in detail with. That's so major. He barely brushed the subject in "Sunday" when hanging out with John. Obviously he wasn't ready to talk about it. Character development, anyone. But it also goes to show just how much he likes Keller. I like how he admitted that he didnt' think she fit in when he first met her, and that he saw her differently now. Obviously, he already liked her, but going through this situation with her kinda cemented his admiration for her.

I've been calling them Chuck-nician and Chick-nician... for lack of anything better. *chuckles*
