In his blog, he includes a photo of a diagram of something that will definitely spoil you for the "Teyla and the Athosians" storyline.

And, for those who do check it out...I was right! Go me!

Although I'm *sadface* that I had to be right so damn soon! I was counting on at least a couple of eps of interaction. Then again, that might put too much focus on Teyla and the importance of her relationships with her people, and we can't have that, can we?

I really need to be allowed to pick more than one mood: I'm feeling both gleeful and cynical right now...

I'm not surprised - but I wish it was different.

As far as predictability goes, it there were only so many avenues they were likely to go down - and these are not the kind of people who try something new in story terms.

As far as opportunity for Teyla-centric plots lost...yeah, well, the score on that is quite plain.

It's kinda ironic. I have a feeling that a lot of the people who packed up and left in Season Three would really like Season Four...except that they've all packed up and left.

What I've seen, I've liked. I've seen through Tabula Rasa. I like that the episodes are no longer John and Rodney and oh yeah! look there is Teyla and Ronon.

I have the other eps on my hd or dvr I just haven't had the chance to watch... and I have like 5 fics due between now and 2/14. go me!

I don't honestly believe Kanan was any more of an obstruction to John/TEyla than, say, Chaya or Teer - even Larrin.

Now, though, I'm just hoping he doesn't turn out to have been evil. Because that just cliche and bad. :(

Honestly, though, I was basing my predictions on the Stargate history with Romantic Love Interests. I didn't mind Kanan as Teyla's love interest.

I wouldn't have minded if they did set Teyla up in a stable relationship with an Athosian, as long as she was still on the team and continued to be treated as part of the Atlantis family. It's one of those things that could work in the background of TPTB's kind of writing more successfully than a John/Teyla relationship.

I guess I just haven't thought so much about Kannan because most of my speculation's been for the Athosians in general and what the hell happened to them. Kinda like OMG TEYLA'S PEOPLE OH NO WTF??!!

I won't hurt you, no worries. XD I always like multiple pairings in my fandoms. I don't just ship John/Teyla in SGA - I ship Teyla/Ronon, John/Elizabeth and Teyla/Lorne as well. Not to mention John/Lorne and John/Ronon. (Some love for McShep when I feel it's done right, but it usually just doesn't do it for me.) I don't do grand, unbreakable OTP's.

It's extremely annoying that the only purpose the Athosians could serve in the storyline was to go missing to give Teyla some angst.

As to shipping, I'm pretty much open to anything that isn't McShep, Shweir, or Teyla/Ronon, with a strong leaning towards Teyla pairings and Ronon pairings. But John/Teyla is my Atlantis "OTP" for sure.

But you're right - it's not really that surprising. Like so many minor-and-less characters on this show (think Katie Brown), Kannan (is this the proper spelling?) served more as a plot device for a main character rather than an actual character in his own right. Hell, Teyla's entire relationship with him took place offscreen, shoved in there just to account for RL's pregnancy.

It's too bad, since we could have learned so much more about Teyla had he been actually present in the show.

Now I'm wondering how they're going to deal with the child if the father will no longer be around. Having a toddler running around Atlantis doesn't seem like a good idea.

The spoiler makes me a bit nervous about the fate of the Athosians as a people. I hope they don't use the current storyline as an opportunity to just get rid of them altogether :(

Well, I maintain that the child isn't going to stick around in the show - or it won't be a 'normal' child. It's just not something Stargate does.

Hm. Well, I can't say this is unexpected. As irritated as I was at the whole Surprise Invisible Boyfriend thing, I'm actually kind of relieved he won't be hanging around. And maybe Teyla will get to sing again! (I've got to be the only person who actually liked that scene.)

I also wonder what they'll do with the kid now that Kanan can't be a stay at home daddy. It's a long shot, but I think it would be really interesting if they shipped the kid off to Earth or something. As far away from the Wraith as you can possibly get.
