From Joe Mallozzi's blog 24th Jan, 2008:
In his blog, he includes a photo of a diagram of something that will definitely spoil you for the "Teyla and the Athosians" storyline.
And, for those who do check it out...I was right! Go me!
Although I'm *sadface* that I had to be right so damn soon! I was counting on at least a couple of eps of interaction. Then again, that might put too much focus on Teyla and the importance of her relationships with her people, and we can't have that, can we?
I really need to be allowed to pick more than one mood: I'm feeling both gleeful and cynical right now...

I'm not surprised - but I wish it was different.

As far as opportunity for Teyla-centric plots lost...yeah, well, the score on that is quite plain.

It's kinda ironic. I have a feeling that a lot of the people who packed up and left in Season Three would really like Season Four...except that they've all packed up and left.

I have the other eps on my hd or dvr I just haven't had the chance to watch... and I have like 5 fics due between now and 2/14. go me!

Now, though, I'm just hoping he doesn't turn out to have been evil. Because that just cliche and bad. :(

Infinitely and any day! Although I still have a secret longing for some Teyla-relationship development... :)

Though, part of me is gleeful that it clears the way for more J/T possibilities like you are. That's not TOO wrong, is it?

Honestly, though, I was basing my predictions on the Stargate history with Romantic Love Interests. I didn't mind Kanan as Teyla's love interest.
I wouldn't have minded if they did set Teyla up in a stable relationship with an Athosian, as long as she was still on the team and continued to be treated as part of the Atlantis family. It's one of those things that could work in the background of TPTB's kind of writing more successfully than a John/Teyla relationship.
I really do ship John/Teyla! Don't hurt me! :D

I won't hurt you, no worries. XD I always like multiple pairings in my fandoms. I don't just ship John/Teyla in SGA - I ship Teyla/Ronon, John/Elizabeth and Teyla/Lorne as well. Not to mention John/Lorne and John/Ronon. (Some love for McShep when I feel it's done right, but it usually just doesn't do it for me.) I don't do grand, unbreakable OTP's.

As to shipping, I'm pretty much open to anything that isn't McShep, Shweir, or Teyla/Ronon, with a strong leaning towards Teyla pairings and Ronon pairings. But John/Teyla is my Atlantis "OTP" for sure.

But you're right - it's not really that surprising. Like so many minor-and-less characters on this show (think Katie Brown), Kannan (is this the proper spelling?) served more as a plot device for a main character rather than an actual character in his own right. Hell, Teyla's entire relationship with him took place offscreen, shoved in there just to account for RL's pregnancy.
It's too bad, since we could have learned so much more about Teyla had he been actually present in the show.

I guess it is the proper spelling, given that that's how it's listed on Joe's post. I'm just used to thinking of it as "Kanan"!
And, yeah, in the Stargate Universe, the characters tend to be more plot devices than people.

The spoiler makes me a bit nervous about the fate of the Athosians as a people. I hope they don't use the current storyline as an opportunity to just get rid of them altogether :(

Sometimes I want to sit the Martins and Binder and others down and say, "What? Were your parents mean to you? Did they divorce early? Do you have relationship problems? WHAT?"
Yes, you called it. Here's your cookie. :-P

I would pay money to sit in on this conversation. LIke going to see someone else's therapy session! XD

I also wonder what they'll do with the kid now that Kanan can't be a stay at home daddy. It's a long shot, but I think it would be really interesting if they shipped the kid off to Earth or something. As far away from the Wraith as you can possibly get.
