tielan: (don't make me shoot you)

Okay, so I can't be unhappy when listening to James Marsden sing "That's Amore" from Enchanted. I don't think it's actually possible. Something about that song just wires into my brain and I want to sing and gesture and sway in my office cube.

Not that I was unhappy. In fact, I finally got something working that I've been working on all week and which has been crapping me out. And it's FRIDAY!

My front garden bed has been cleared of about 2m cubed of red lava rocks and looks so nice and all ready for composting and fruit trees and orchard cover greenery. The 10 bags of horse manure should be delivered today. That's going into a compost pile (or several of them), and will also be dumped into the spots where I'm planning to plant fruit trees - probably dig holes, dump the compost, and then plant the trees come spring, when all the bare-rooted trees are being sold.

My weekend consists of nothing on Saturday (NOTHING) and a destash fabric market on Sunday (where I'm selling, not buying). Hopefully sell all the extra fabric I have - I did a big clean out, but I still have more to go.

I have done almost no writing lately. Maria Hill epic is going slowly, and none of the Jupiter Ascending stories are going anywhere. Once again, the profic has gone backburner.

This is partly due to quilting - I am three gifts behind, and have two coming due at the end of this month/start of next. *sigh*

And next month the ficathons start up again. [community profile] unconventionalcourtship, [livejournal.com profile] shipswap and the first check-up for the [livejournal.com profile] heroinebigbang which may or may not go.

I also signed up for...something related to Maria Hill on tumblr. It appears to be something like a crossbreed of ye olde webrings and a popularity contest - only the 15 most popular (as defined by reblogs) 'applications' get to be part of it? Or something?

*handwaves that*

Haven't gotten anywhere further on Agents of SHIELD. Thought about it last night while burying threads from quilting (seriously, most boring task ever, pushing even binding into second place), couldn't be assed. Also my sister was watching Australia vs. India in World Cup Cricket (we won) and I didn't particularly want it to become a battle of shows.

Finally: Friday meme

Pick any character from a fandom of mine and I'll answer the following questions:
1. What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her.
2. Is he/she important to the general plot?
3. Can you relate to this character at all? Does he/she grip you emotionally?
4. How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
5. Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by his/her relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)
6. Is there anything about the character you would change?
7. If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how would you see yourself interacting with him/her? Would you get along well? Fall in love with him/her? Dislike? Have a friendly rivalry?
8. Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
9. Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about this character (if you dislike) to someone new to fandom?

Fandoms: anything you know I'm in, or think I'm in, or think I should be in (and I will base it on my understanding of that fandom).

Three options for [community profile] unconventionalcourtship:

1. Wife For A Week: High profile businesswoman Maria needs a fake boyfriend to keep Wade Wilson at bay while negotiating a buy-out; Pepper Potts suggests Steve Rogers, a friend who's in need of a distraction. On the surface, it seems like the perfect solution, and at first it all works without a hitch. Unfortunately, there's such a thing as being too successful: things are going so well that their friends start believing the lie...and if they're not careful, they might start believing it, too!

2. Nothing But The Best: Returning to New York after a long stint undercover, Maria Hill discovers her connecting flight has been cancelled leaving her stuck in the city. Attacked on her way to the hotel, a stranger steps in to help - unnecessary, but appreciated. Usually, she'd just say 'thanks' and walk away, but something about him catches her interest. He's struggling with huge life changes, she's looking for a connection - if only for a night. And then next morning, Maria Hill walks into the New York office and discovers her one night stand was with SHIELD's hottest new property: Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America.

3. Down On The Farm: Steve Rogers has been sent to 'rusticate' out at Phil's Farm while the music scene cools down after what should have been a harmless fling went very badly south. He expects to be worked hard and he's not afraid of that, what he doesn't expect is to meet a childhood crush. Maria Hill has been out of the music scene for nearly ten years, after the rock'n'roll lifestyle killed her cousin - the other half of their pop duo. She doesn't expect one of the current music scene's hottest stars to remember her; she also doesn't expect to fall in love with him. But she's not about to try to keep him down on the farm, and she has no wish to go back to Paree...

Is it impolite to host your own birthday party?

*is curious*

eta: no, I'm not asking for permission, I'm asking out of sheer curiosity.
