I realised what the other side of infinity was missing: Nick's POV. So the section that I've rewritten about 100 times since August is being rewritten again - this time from Nick's POV and it's going a lot better. And the key relationship in the story is Maria & Nick anyway, so I think we need his perspective.

I know people on my flist have mentioned the Comfortable Courtesan, but I didn't realise it was actually written by someone in fandom, let alone available on DW. I'm still in the middle of the 2015 entries and very much enjoying it.

I kind of miss metafandom. I'm not sure where a meta-discussion of 'tumblr coming to DW' is right now, or if there are links to it, or even if I'd be welcome in it. The people who are involved/starting such conversations are not the kind of people who I think would deign to talk to such as me. Still, sometimes it would be nice to keep up with things as they happen, instead of a month later.

This, however, has always been the case for me, ever since I realised - about 15 years ago - that I was never ever ever going to be one of the cool kids in fandom and know what was going on.

It feels like it's been a lazy four months. That good old Protestant work ethic that demands productivity of some kind or another, alas!

Frankly, I'm sure I could have gotten more done if I were someone else, but with the heat and the everything, it's just an effort. (That said, I probably get a lot more done than a lot of my friends who have various conditions that limit their physicality.) Having no money and no prospect of earning it in the future doesn't help, either, and I feel unproductive compared to my professional writer friends who just seem to churn out bestsellers by the dozen (okay, one, maybe two a year, that's still freaking amazing if you ask me).

I have garden posts and nailstamping posts and I'll disburse both just as soon as I can upload the photos and put something together.

Watching the DW vs Tumblr terminology/functionality discussion makes me feel like I'm at work.

It's like trying to explain why System A does items 1-9, but not item 5 because the architecture simply isn't capable of that. However System B is insisting that it absolutely needs item 5 because they do Thing Alpha and Thing Beta which is the core of their system functionality, but what they call Thing Beta in System B is actually Thing Gamma in System A, because Thing Beta means another set of processes entirely in System A...

I mean, I get that people are attached to the terminology, function, and culture they're used to, but when in Rome, etc., etc.
