The [livejournal.com profile] sgarareathon! For rare-pairings.

Sign-ups here.

One of these days I'll have to work at persuading the fandom that Shep/Teyla really is a rare-pairing. I mean, I never seem to be able to find anything for it.

I so totally agree. I'm in the process of trying to find noms for the Isis Awards for JT and...y'know...it's really hard to find enough to fill all of the categories. It's like a scavenger hunt across the Net and then I find some stories with such horrid misspellings there's no way I can nom them. Or they aren't finished. Or they aren't truly shippy.

Sigh.

One thing I've noticed about JTdom is that we are mostly readers or lurkers and not writers and artists. Slowly the creative numbers are increasing, but the number of lurkers is increasing exponentially.

And wouldn't you know, my plotbunnies are all John/OC or John with the barest hints of JT without going full-on shippy. I just can't seem to do it and keep it in-character for Teyla.

It's frustrating because the fan numbers are there, but most don't seem to respond to any prompts.

I agree. And, you know, I can almost feel that plotbunny in me...but I'm perpetually swamped and interrupted, so it's a no-go.

BTW, do you have a list of titles of *all* your fics and links to them, maybe? :-) Scrolling through all the LJ archives is a bit daunting. I wish LJ automatically came with this feature.

Thanks so much! Can you tell I'm an LJ newbie? :-)

Sigh. I need more sleep. I was trying to figure out what to write for the SGA Area-thon. Dr. Beckett finding new plants on the island... Ronon having diving contests... Fics that take place in the area of Atlantis...

I wish I had time to write more often. I get a lot of "when are you going to do another story?" so I've tried encouraging everyone else to get their creative juices flowing as well. Mixed results so far. It really is getting to the point where I have to wade through pages of S/W stuff in order to find a decent S/T story. ::sigh:: If school didn't consume my life, maybe the plotbunnies would be more voracious.

I'm a little puzzled by the idea of "rare pairings" in this fandom outside of Sheppard/McKay, honestly. But then, I'm probably biased.

I agree. Even using the SGA newsletter's pairing listing, some of the JT ship stories are actually threesome slash stories. There aren't many purely JT ship stories out there by comparison to McShep and SW.

Recently I started reading Cadman ship or Sora ship fics and there are hardly any of those.

There's a fair amount of Cadman/McKay fics emerging recently. I did a poll on my LJ about more unusual pairings people wanted to see and it came second to Ronon/Teyla, which was surprising...

As for Sora fic, there's barely any of her to start with. But I'm waiting for people to write Sora/Ford because I'd rather like that. Might be a long wait mind you, probably end up writing some myself eventually.

You're right. I have noticed more Cadman/McKay fic appearing in the sga_newsletter. And there wasn't much Sora to go on. Eventually maybe I'll write some too. I'm in a year+ writing slump though.

I'd love to read Sora/Ford if you write any.

:-)

I'm going to try my hand at it soon, got an unfinished short for them that's little stuck. I know someone who really likes the pairing and is currently writing alot, [livejournal.com profile] 11nine73.

My fic is public but I'm friended you anyway, hope you don't mind that. :)

I probably won't write any Ford/Sora anytime soon as I'd need to rewatch old episodes for both of them to get more of a feel for the characters since neither has appeared this season. I'm also rather stuck on a very odd pairing for SGA, it's giving me so many bunnies! Possibly better not to ask what pairing unless you're a Kavanagh fan...

I don't mind that you friended me. :-) Thanks for the link. Kavanaugh's okay. I read almost anything.

Happy writing!

Well, I've mostly been writing Kavanagh/Simpson this week, if you know who she is. It's a fairly bizarre pairing, most people don't rember here character...

But I'm having fun writing it, no matter whether anyone else wants to read it. :D

At least Isis Awards have a category for them...

I'm not amazingly into Shep/Teyla but I occasionally like fic for them, just most I find is so awful, the sort of tweeny happy pregnant with twins kind of fic. I think you're the main writer for the pairing I know of, as in good writer for the pairing, otherwise I can think of a few other I like and occasional fics, but not much really.

It's weird to have a pairing so obvious and so well known but not have that many fics or vids. M/W doesn't have many vids but has a fair amount of fic writers, which is nice. This makes me think I should get round to finishing and writing the S/T fic I've got, one friendship/UST? one half written and a bunny for a darker view on Conversion.

I should get started on a S/T vid soon, I've had a song for a few days (after not being able to find a copy of it) and keep thinking on it but not getting down to it.

Yes, I heard about that thing caused by ST Fever and was kind of shocked. Especially at the person who had wanted to boycotting them claiming S/T had only marginally less fic than S/W. I mean where are they finding the fic if that were true? Because S/T has quite alot fic less than even M/W which is swamped by S/W. I'd even hazard Weir/Zelenka now has as much fic as S/T does.

Hopefully more fic writers will emerge for the pairing over the next year. I doubt the Isis Awards will exclude them next year, unless yet more trouble is caused by odd S/T fans; the only reason for the exclusion was after all because the organisers were under the impression vast amounts of S/T fans were insulted at its inclusion and going to boycott it.

I have an interest in writing Shep/Teyla fics, but more from friendship angle, as I'd love to get into writing more on Teyla generally and her relationship with Sheppard is important anyway.

I know a fair few S/T fans from GW but none write fic which is sad, they do graphics though and nice ones at that, often with some S/T icons etc. I also know a mainly M/W author who I was surprised to learn likes S/T too, just she's not really written anything for them much, apart from some hints in a few M/W stories. I'll have to ask her if she's likely to write for the apir outright as I know if she tried she'd do a good job of it. I don't know if you might have read any of her fics, but Just Friends (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2519726/1/) (to a lesser extent) and Three, Two, One (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2279246/1/) have S/T aspects.

M/W is in a weird place now, on show they seem to be cutting down on Weir's interaction with Rodney which is a little sad even from the friendship perspective, but I still ship them because it's the pairing I get plot bunnies for and no matter what happens on show I'll still read and write fic etc because I simply enjoy it.

Liz/Ronon intrigues me but somehow I've not wanted to read any fic for it yet. No clue why. But I have this urge to make a vid for them, just stuck on a song.

And a couple dozen really good authors writing them. *sigh* I realise they're a difficult pair to write for: even I don't see their UST sizzling away 24x7 (or whatever).

I jumped on the J/T bandwagon right away, but my attempts at writting for them has been mostly limited to drabbles because I can't seem to write them in character and with an actual plot. I see little things in each ep that I want to write about, but my plot bunnies are all starving right now.
