NK Jemisin's The Broken Kingdoms is already out of stock in The Book Depository? Didn't it just get released a few days ago? o_O
Okay, so I'll get that one from my local sci-fi/fantasy bookstore, then. *pets the bookstore, although since they're in the middle of Sydney, they're hardly 'local'*
So, I have Death Game on order (at last), but I think I'll get Homecoming from Fandemonium...and hope that they get it to me before the Sanctuary Experience con on the 10th December. Which is, incidentally, also my work Christmas party day - with a Hawai'ian theme to it. Which I actually think is just going to result in a lot of ugly shirts and a really big headache. But...Amanda Tapping!
Also, Spring, what gives? Yesterday, rain. Today, rain. Tomorrow, rain. Sunday, rain. IT'S NOVEMBER, FCOL! I'm still sleeping under two duvets.
I want my summer this year! Even if I have to work all the way through Christmas to save my holidays for Europe in May. It better be warm!
I read a shocking book - the first in a romantic trilogy. And it was very bad. Flimsy plot, and not even any hot sexxing to save it. Except that now, in spite of all my knowledge to the contrary, I want to read the other two in the trilogy. ARGH.
Also, I have finally caught up in Mike Shepherd's Kris Longknife series...and now have to wait at least half a year for the next one. BAH. Ditto with the other two authors I'm waiting on. Why don't my favourite authors write faster, dammit? Is the Naomi Novik one with Temeraire and Laurence coming to Australia one out yet?
...I shouldn't even be reading. It's NaNo month! And yet, I'm trying to work out the way authors I admire open their books, start their stories, show their characters. Of course, reading published authors is prone to send me into the 'Despair' section of the Five Stages Of NaNo (Anticipation, Terror, Exhilaration, Despair, Insanity).
I was going to go to bed 45 mins ago when I got home. Yeah, right...
