So, doing Sanctuary catchup:

I think I missed an episode there. Last time I saw Sanctuary, I could have sworn they were on the verge of a hill looking down at some lost (Aztec?) city with The Five (or, more correctly, Four of The Five + daughter of the Fifth).

And now they're just The Three. I'm guessing that Watson was killed off in The Episode I Missed? (They couldn't afford Peter Wingfield as a regular guest, I imagine!)

Overall, I must admit I rather like this story arc. Yes, the Cabal is a little too Axis Of Genius Evil for my liking, but they do carry the storyline off with a certain amount of panache. I'm not sure where the storyline with the Big Guy is going, and I'm hoping its only use wasn't just so Henry could do the break down over the break up of his family.

Little redheaded scientist lady with the limp is certainly an interesting Mengele for the Cabal. A little OTT on the Cultured Mad Scientist trope mixed with the Little Old Lady (Who Poisons Your Tea), perhaps, but still interesting. Recurring?

Martin Wood is the fifth clean DNA individual? *facepalm*

The introduction of Kate is certainly an interesting twist, although her escape from the warehouse was entirely predictable. (Oh, Henry. SET DORKITUDE TO STUN!) Did people know Kate was going to become a regular at that point or was it a bit of a surprise? Was it obvious that the new snarky action girl was introduced just as they had to kill of the old snarky action girl?

(Interestingly, the first snarky action girl is the blonde and her substitute is non-white - the replacement usually goes the other way.)

I liked that Magnus actually shot Kate in the foot. But then I have a thing for characters who can be practical and ruthless when needs must as the devil drives, and still remain likeable - it's rather rare.

Query: how did fandom take that moment, btw? Was there shrieking about the Moral Event Horizon? (And how did Kate get away on that wounded foot, too?)

Nicely ominous ending for the episode: TO BE CONTINUED as the six turn towards the window of the Cabal's meeting room. I was kinda expecting them to vanish in purple teleportation clouds, though. DISAPPOINTED!

I admit, I'm going to the con mostly to support Amanda Tapping because she played Sam Carter. The 1st season of Sanctuary didn't hit my buttons at all, but I rather like the way End Of Nights Part 1 is shaping up, so there's hope!

Even if my brain keeps telling me: "It's a car chase on the Bridge Studios lot, for crying out loud!"

You missed Revelations part 2 and yes, Watson did die in that episode (he's back in season three for flashback scenes though).

The lady scientist is sadly not recurring.

It was pretty obvious that Kate was going to replace Ashley, though a few people were surprised. I think the majority of people did see it coming.

Helen didn't actually shoot Kate; Kate got shot in the leg later by Cabal snipers. I don't think I've seen any discussions about Helen threatening Kate.

I can't wait to see what you think of the rest of the season!

Also, there's an awesome fanvid by [personal profile] kuwdora covering the Revelations/EON arc (it definitely has spoilers for Revelations part 2 & EON part 2) which you might like.

It would've been interesting if she had shot Kate. I'm not sure if they've ever shown Helen go through with a threat like that.
