Just a short post:
The rail fence quilt is a ridiculously easy quilt for a beginner, featuring strip-quilting, simple blocks, and a very effective pattern when the fabrics are appropriately contrasted.
Me, being me, didn't want to do the standard tri-colour or quad-colour pattern. So I went for something more art-y.

It looks a lot more cohesive than the last layout I had - although that last pic was more to show the blocks and what could be done with them.
All in all, it's more or less what I wanted the quilt to look like.
I may have to take time out to make a couple of quilt blocks for the
birthday_blocks challenge that I've joined for this year, but when those are done, the next quilting project will be Agam Darshi's quilt made from the Sanctuary fabric range in a kaleidoscope pattern.
As a matter of fact, that's a project I'm really looking forward to starting and finishing - mostly because I've never done a kaleidoscope before, I like the fabric, and I like giving gifts to underdog actresses who play characters I adore.

I really like the way you've played with the possibilities here.

It'd be interesting to do it in softer colours, not so stark. Maybe with scraps rather than yardage? So many possibilities!
