Finally! An episode that didn't make me want to stab something!
Helen vs. Vampire Queen. No guesses for who's going to come out best.
Helen and Nikola were delightful fun to watch. I'm not a fan of them as a pairing, but as Gnip and Gnop, they do very very nicely. The revamping was fun, and the Vampire Queen was a very cool antagonist with an appropriate threat level. If I had an issue, it was with the "dialogue of I-am-evil/We-will-defy-you" between Helen and VQ, which was either atrociously camp or hilariously so and I'm leaning more towards the hilarious side.
I was rather surprised when the B-storyline (very very very B) turned out to be about Kate and her past - and the sight of Kate going in with the Sanctuary crew behind her (really, we need more scenes of Kate all geared up and kicking ass with the TAC teams...) is almost guaranteed to kick my pedals. So disappointed when Kate and the TAC team didn't get to go out and save the day in One Night.
Kate confronting her ex-colleague solo, and making like she's got the Sanctuary backing her up from the shaodws? That there is why I love my girl.
So I'm still hoping that someday someone (PTB or fandom) will write that story about Kate's history, where someone's trying to kill her for a past wrong, perceived or real, and she has to take the fight back to them. And in the end, Kate defeats the bad guy and Helen takes measures to warn other people with a grudge off Kate. Or something that, you know, allows and acknowledges Kate to be awesome.
So, final run for Sanctuary S3: Normandy, which I've heard is good; Carentan, which I think people thought was good; and the final two episodes, which most people seem to really like, but the spoilers I've read indicate I'm going to be 'meh' about: Helen&Will episodes don't hit my buttons at all.
That'll be Friday's viewing while quilting. Today is the Sydney Craft And Quilt Show fair.
