Okay, I'm not a fan of the Five, any more than I'm a fan of Rodney McKay. It's less to do with the characters themselves and more to do with the dominance of them in fandom. It's Daniel Jackson and the Denialites syndrome, although Denialites syndrome was turned up to 11.
But Normandy was an awesome episode.
I take it the next ep, Carentan, is the "70 years later" continuance? (Would that make 'Normandy' the backstory for 'Carentan'?)

Characterised by such sentiments as "Oh noes! He has a hangnail!Everyone must pet and fuss over him, even though another character has broken three ribs!" Or "I can't believe how mean the other characters were by not checking to see how he was feeling, even though they're in the middle of a crisis!"
So on and so forth.
Daniel had it baaaad in early SG1 fandom. And Rodney got handed the baton when it came to SGA fandom.
Sanctuary isn't so bad with the Five - I mean, most people acknowledge that they're fucked up. But 90% of the fandom revolves around the Five - and only Helen is a regular cast member in the show.
