If you don't mind something from an unfinished fic, here's a little Maria and Clint working together to survive.

In the heat and humidity of the jungle, Maria drifted off to sleep again, trusting Clint to have her back.

He woke her up at dawn, his hand over her mouth.

One look at his face and she knew their pursuers were getting close. Clint had managed to scavenge his quiver from the crash site. It rested on his back, full of his usual arrows and a number of newly made ones. His makeshift bow was in his left hand as he helped her up.

Maria gritted her teeth, pushing down the pain. She took the cane Clint had made for her, taking a tentative step. Her ribs protested along with her leg, but the splint was solid.

It would do.

She nodded at Clint that she was good to go. Clint didn’t question her the way another agent might have. Especially a male one.

That was another reason Maria liked working with Clint. He was one of the few men who treated her as an equal and his boss, regardless of her gender.

Clint wrapped his right arm around her waist and they were off.

It took seven days.

Five days of foraging for food and water, their every movement dogged by their pursuers.

Between her gun and Clint’s remarkable skill even with a makeshift bow, they whittled away the number of men following them. It still left a few too many.

On day three their food ran out. Clint managed to find some berries to eat along with taking down a monkey. Maria added a snake to their supply on day five, having seen it unwinding from its perch behind Clint’s back. She stabbed it with her knife then cut off its head.

They managed to find water from the vines and plants around them. Not enough to quench their thirst but more then adequate to keep them alive.

Maria grew used to the constant buzz of insects around her. But it was the mid afternoon sudden showers that really tested her. She was damp all the time, tired, hungry and just plain ticked off. Clint fared better than her but Maria could see the lack of proper food and water were starting to take their toll on him.

On day five, they ran out of water, with no new source found. She looked at Clint before settling her crutch better. Clint didn’t say anything as they kept walking.

Thanks.

I stalled a bit on the ending and the realization it was more a Clint & Maria as friends rather than potential lovers that has me revamping it a bit.

It's in the pipeline! Maybe later this week?
