So, I have decided that Maria is going to be the assassin who kills Steve in Civil War, under the mind-control of Crossbones (a.k.a. Brock Rumlow).

I know, I know, they've already done the "brainwashed friend tries to kill Steve" in Cap2, but I really do worry about how they've built up Maria with such a connection to Steve.

Although 'brainwashed friend trying to kill him' is better than 'bitch because we need an antagonist who's also a friend and we can't make Tony Stark teh ebil' or 'jealous bitch out to get Steve because he doesn't like her' or most of the other tropes I could think of.

I haven't really counted the number of appearances, in all honesty. I'm just trying to cover all my despair-and-die options for Maria.
