I feel like running an MCU: Civil War remix.

The requirement: write a fic that remixes Civil War.

I mean, I know most people wouldn't bother including Maria in it (who?), but damn, I'd like to see what other people come up with that includes more than just the big characters from the movies.

(Also: the first person to tell me "but Natasha has a great part, so don't get angry that Maria's not in it" will get "but Australia has great health care, so don't get angry that America's health care sucks!")

Oh, that would be a great idea to recycle my Janet-van-Dyne-comes-back fic. *nods* I intended to finish up it for heroinebigbang except I got distracted by shiny new fandoms and the bigbang folded anyway so it's still languishing in my WIP folder. But, yes, the idea included rewriting Janet (and Hope) into the Civil War storyline - or at least what I could glimpse of it by the trailers, I still have to watch the actual movie, have to see if this particular plot-bunny (and my inevitably fickle fannish interests) will survive it... *finger crossed*

Yes, exactly. Or at least, this particular incarnation of them: I could very well come out of the movie obsessed with, say, Black Panther, who knows? (LOL unless it's AoU again, in which case I'd be forced to focus on other fandoms for a while waiting for my seething rage to subside... *facepalm*)

The funny thing is that at first I was quite excited by AoU. The rage came once Natasha's treatment had time to sink in*. That and Clint's storyline - I just can't wrap my head around the idea of Clint Barton: family man. Nope. And Wanda and Pietro's - the whole Jewish/Roma thing and them volunteering and being experimented on by Nazi, just, once that was brought to my attention it left a sour taste to their whole origin story. *sighs*
"what it could have been with Maria in it" - Sigh. What a waste, especially because she had such an important role in the comics and it would have been such a great opportunity to see some character development, see her conflicted but following her duty... *shakes head*

* I still cringe at the whole monster/sterility thing, I know it wasn't the point, it still rings that way to me. Plus I kind of hated the whole Bruce/Natasha thing - also, LOL, what about poor Betty? Bruce, you dog!

I feel like you and [personal profile] kore could get on well. Though a week or so after its out in the US might be better timing.

Ahaha. There's room for Natasha and Maria in Civil War. BOTH. That's kind of the thing about the world. There's room for all kinds of women - and that includes Maria and Natasha.

Nope, nope, not even going to try that argument, you know? Not even a valid argument and not an argument that's going to make anyone feel better. ETA: And the thing is? I'm perfectly happy that Natasha has a role. I am not perfectly happy that Maria does not also have one. This is the kind of movie that Maria is tailor-made for.

For myself, I was likening it to my season 4 SGA post-Elizabeth, post-Kate, mostly-sidelined-Teyla rage (seriously, I had no faith she wasn't going to, idk, die in childbirth or something stupid, or even have anything worthwhile for much longer), and the constant refrain of, "But at least we get Sam Carter and Jennifer Keller!" made me see red on a regular basis.

(For the record, and as you already know, but not everyone reading this necessarily will: Sam Carter and Jennifer Keller are wonderful characters. I love them a lot. But the fact is, SGA and their serious penchant for destroying women characters, meant that "But we still get Sam Carter and Jennifer Keller!" was not the consolatory bit of enthusiastic pro-women piece of cheerfulness for me that it was for the people saying so. Why couldn't we have Sam Carter and Jennifer Keller - and a non-sidelined Teyla, and a not dead Kate and Elizabeth.)

"but Natasha has a great part, so don't get angry that Maria's not in it"

//facepalm

Well, Maria and Nat are totally DIFFERENT PEOPLE for one thing, jeez.

(Also I finally friended you, WTF I totally missed that comment of yours, my bad!)
