ACCURATE CAPSLOCK REVIEW IS ACCURATE - linked to by
kore, whose rage at the movie is a wonderful and sanitizing thing for me.
My thoughts on what I was hoping for out of an MCU Civil War, and which Captain America: Civil War failed to provide. It was also in refutation of a Captain Hill shipper who thought Sharon was replaceable in the movie. (She wasn't, but the romance was handled with unspeakable awkwardness.)
At some point, I will write the letter to Marvel Movies in which I indicate why a Black Widow movie will make things worse for female characters in the MCU, and you will all bitch me out, then unfriend me, and then blacken my name throughout the fandom.
But today is not that day.
Today I'm going to finish this ridiculous fic, and make more Maria Hill icons, because for reasons inexplicable to a fan such as myself, there are simply not enough of them around.
And then I'm going to see the chiropractor in the afternoon and get a quote for the fence, because in the midst of fannish frivolity, there must also be management of the mundane.

Natasha's already indispensable in the MCU; the time for her movie was in Phase 2 or, at latests, Phase 3. Now, we need breadth of female characters, not depth.
They should be running around making movies about Wanda, and Carol, and Hope, and, yes, MARIA HILL, not panicking that comics movieverse was SO EXCITED by the glimpse of Wonder Woman in Bats vs Supes and thinking they need to jump on the female superhero bandwagon they ignored two years ago because 'people aren't interested in a female superhero movie'.

We should turn you single letter into a movement. We should all write to Marvel and show them we're not going to be silent about sidelines female characters anymore. I am still furious about Peggy. Furious.

Like, I want it to have the other characters in it too, and I don't think it will make Marvel suddenly feminist, or whatever, but I really do want a Black Widow movie.
And a Captain Marvel movie, and a movie about Hope and Jan Van Dyne, and a SHIELD movie with Maria and Nick as leads, and Wanda movie about redemption, and a SWORD movie about Abigail Brand, and hey a Ms Marvel movie with Kamala, and a Young Avengers movie with Kate and Eli. Oh! and an Isaiah Bradley movie. And a Misty Knight and Colleen Wing tv show.
These are things I'm mostly not going to get, but I do still want them, and also a Black Widow movie.

Honestly, the only way it COULD be made worse at this point is if it bumped Carol's movie, which I suppose is possible, but not super likely since we're not getting Black Widow anyway, but honestly they seem to be pretty happy tossing over the female characters whether Natasha gets a movie or not.
They said, "Natasha was crucial to Cap2, so it's like she has a movie" and the same for AoU and CW. While still not including Maria and cutting 70% of Sharon's screen time, and killing and cancelling Peggy in the same week. The only difference I can see it making is that I'd have a Black Widow movie, which, yay!
