"Midnight Special." Any fandom.

'The Midnight Special' is about a human woman who owns a 'supernatural' bar, where the patrons are almost entirely made up of supernatural beings. She's the chief bartender, and the one opening up and closing down most nights, and inherited it from her mother's family. But the human laws are starting to crack down on the supernatural sites - including the bar, and it's not looking good for her.

Generally, the bar is pretty quiet. The regulars don't want to bring trouble - the community has its own way of dealing with troublemakers that the law doesn't look too closely at - and most of the people who turn up are there to gawk.

They say in hospitals that when the moon is full, the ER just goes crazy?

At The Midnight Special, that holds doubly so. But it's not the were-types that bring the crazy; it's the humans.

My favourite part is where she's talking with a fae kid who's arguing why they should be allowed to drink the 'not until you're two hundred, and preferably two hundred-fifty; and I need to see the whorls on your pinky', because that conversation is just fun and my least favourite part is the bit with the group of assholes coming in just after dawn and thinking that because the night shift's just done, they'll have free rein with her and the bar.

I would read the shit out of this, especially if it's got a mystery/noir pastiche to it.

"End of the Line", Sharon Carter or Maria Hill.

'End of The Line' is the story about how Sharon Carter walks away from Steve after Cap3.

I don't know about favourite part or not, but the most powerful part for me is the line where Sharon looks at her burned bridges and smeared reputation, and reflects that while she'd do it again, it wouldn't be for Steve and his smile and his kiss, but because the line between righteous and self-righteous is exceeding fine, and most will cross it without ever knowing they have.
