It looks like Canberra is a go.
Now I have to:
The advantage of being in another city is...fewer distractions during the week. The disadvantage is...more likely to have SADs from being elsewhere and disconnected and solitary during winter. Six months on more than I was earning in Sydney, with my accomodation covered is a good deal, though, and there's nothing in Sydney right now.
Last time I contracted in Canberra was 2006. I was 30 and in a very different place. And the world has changed a lot since then.
Anyway. The next three weeks will FLY, I'm sure. I just have to survive them.
(Sorry, the next number of posts will probably be about me prepping for Canberra.)
Now I have to:
- arrange somewhere to stay in Canberra
- discuss the permaculture group presidency with the managing committee
- prep my garden for long-term neglect
- work out which weekends I'm coming back and how to maximise time/energy during those weekends
- deal with leaving a lot of my social life behind
- write in my spare time like there's no tomorrow

There are some really great restaurants and bars down there now too... though I get that you're trying to make money, not spend it XD

Right now, I'm sort of debating just how much interaction with new people I want when I go down. I know some quilty peeps, which is probably going to be my major connection, and my church friends will hook me up with church groups, and I have at least one writer friend down there...and I'll probably find some local permies...
But thank you for the offer. And if you're down there, let me know and we can definitely meet up. You can show me where's good...
(I might be getting a food allowance from the company hiring me to work on this project: they have a policy for people temporarily moving to work on things...)
