I think I read Carrie when I was 13, in Year 7, first year of high school, with a full library of books just waiting to be read.
My experience of life was utterly antithetical to Carrie, poor girl. Not that I was the life of the party, just that I was loved. But I'll never forget that opening scene (opening?) when Carrie gets her period in the changerooms and doesn't have the faintest idea what's happening, and the girls chant 'PE-RIOD! PE-RIOD! PE-RIOD!' around her, and a tampon gets stuck to her pubes. (Not sure how the physics of that works; adult!me says that King probably never really thought about the logistics of how heavy an absorbent cotton bullet would have to be to soak up some 4mL of blood.)
Anyway, my period has turned up, having given advance warning with bloody discharge a couple of days ago. I am preparing for exhaustion, copious bleeding, and panty liners in addition to a mooncup because my uterine lining is all just GET US OUT OF HERE STAT for two days, and then OH I CAN'T BE BOTHERED NOW, WE'LL JUST DROP A CLOT NOW AND THEN for the next ten days after.

In less bloody news (but no less red, although a little more green), I have put in my
holiday_wishes wishlist for this year.
It's pretty much the same as last year. I have acquired no new fandoms this year, so it's all the same stuff, because I so rarely get what I'm looking for, that more is always welcome!
Although one thing I didn't put in there...

I am thinking of watching Bridgerton - the first season with Daphne and the Duke. And I suspect I'm only going to manage doing this with someone else, so...
Is anyone interested in watch parties for Bridgerton series? Must be willing to balance snark with enjoyment. It would help if you knew the book series, and it would probably help to be willing to like the characters! I'm not going to be a purist about dresses or formalities or Things They Changed To Make It Sexier And More Comprehensible For The Roaring Twenties, but there may be the occasional amused comment.
If you've already seen it and want to see it a second (or third or xth time), I'm willing to work out a time and discord/chat/space to watch at the same times.

And in the randomicity of the universe I just found a packet of daikon radish seeds. I was thinking I should plant a few radish around the place...

I'd be up for watching Bridgerton - I never got around to watching it yet but having a scheduled time to do so is a great way to make sure I will. Can do discord / whatsapp / old-school IRC even! Email in my profile is probably the best way to organise.
