Technocrats can't think beyond six years: this is a problem when looking at environmental damage.

house things
timeline: this winter
1. curtain thickening and pelmet installation (even temporary)
2. gaps under front and back doors (lifts to open door, seals shut with closed door_
3. caulk gaps between skirting boards? (try in my room first)

timeline: by next winter - if El Nino
1. redo house insulation & weatherboarding
2. seal household gaps around edge
3. household battery

timeline: before societal collapse
1. rebuild house to better use passive heating/cooling in design
2. improve solar array

The garden can be changed/adjusted/regrown at any point. But the things above are ones that are more likely to require a functioning capitalist society to be able to do.

Our little house has been upgraded quite a bit since the tree fell through the roof last year. Our front yard still looks like a desert, though. They really messed it up with all the big trucks and construction people.

Houses are a pain in the butt.
