It's really hard to explain to some people that hanging around in a channel where everyone is excited and delighted about what they're getting (or furious that they're not getting exactly what they wanted) is like being at a Christmas party where everyone else got presents (even ones they didn't like) and the only thing you have in front of you is a lump of coal. The same one from five Christmases ago.
Also implicit in everyone's response to you: you should be grateful for that lump of coal. It might turn into an actual fire, someday!
Also, dear friend, it is not 'cute' that I'm the only person with a lump of coal, either. At least, not from my perspective it's not.

I don't know if this is about
- actual presents
- paid work/job/career
- relationship
- infertility
but it sounds really hard :(
