my brain is not all here

I feel like I should get a COVID test. Also to get: a good night's sleep.

Didn't end up going to the beach; diden't even sleep until 2am, so wasn't really in any condition to go to the beach. Ended up going to the gym. 1km in 8 minutes: walk, slow jog, fast jog and switching it around.

Had lunch with some old writing friends from ten years back: the "Spiders" - a mondegreen by someone's mum. "I'm going to writer's group!" "What? Spidersgroup?" It was good. We resolved to try to meet once a month to write together, as per the old days. Dunno if it'll eventuate, but we'll give it a try.

Came home, got caught at an accident that turned a motorway of three lanes, plus one feeder lane from a side road, and a bus lane, into a single lane. In 30C heat, in a cement jungle. It was AWFUL.

Seems to have been at day for accidents - there was one on a nearby major road that slowed traffic for over an hour this morning. Apparently someone died - possibly jaywalking?

I bought a 2ndhand copy of Stronghold by Melanie Rawn, which I had two of, and then gave one away because I didn't need two, and then Smokey peed on the other copy a couple of years back and I think I threw it out... Luckily, the local 2ndhand bookshop had a copy. Except they had a complete series, but I already have all the other books except that one...

Finished a quilt top tonight. Now I think it's time for bed.

my brother had books 1, 2, and 6 of that series, and I think the local library finally bought their own copies of the others after I ordered them in so often. I should reread them, but I recall really disliking...most of the characters by the end? But also I was 10 and held silly grudges.

I haven't read them for at least a decade, possibly two, and there were books that I liked less than others (Book 3 and book 5). But it's interesting re-reading them and realising that I'm focusing on different things as an adult than I did when I was reading these back in my late teens/early 20s.

Still generally enjoying the stories and the characters, though.
