So, there's an article out about a study on the likely warning indicators for dementia in later life: Dementia Risk Study finds 11 Key Factors behind Condition.

One of the - the second one named, after 'age' - is 'education'.

Which...isn't that more or less code for 'socioeconomic status'?

From what I understand about some of the risk factors I think education here means making your brain work by leaning and remembering.

But this isn't education as an activity, this is education as a category - one can never have attended higher education as a category and still keep one's brain working at learning and remembering things (education as an activity).

It's not *not* code for that, necessarily, but the study probably controlled for that.
