Seriously pissed off.

We've had this thing that's been lying around for five years while B1 promised she'd find someone to take it. It's a useful piece of equipment if no longer new and surely someone would want it for free? No. Nowhere interested, nobody called back, the only people who were willing to buy it were scammers ("I'll take it, what's your email?")

And then a local woman says she'll take it. She says it once, and doesn't respond for A WEEK. During which I give up waiting for her - no shows are five cents to a dozen - and put it out for council 'large waste' clean-up. This morning the truck comes, the truck goes, and then three hours later, she messages me that she still wants it.

24 hours and a single response, and I would have pulled it out and pulled it aside. This is equipment to the tune of a couple of thousand dollars - but people only ever seem to want it brand new and shiny to help their kid learn how to stand. And then someone said they'd take it and then didn't follow up in a week when our entire area has council 'large waste' being carted away and they'd have to know that this is not a time to be casual about things that you actually want.

We've had that thing for five effing years. I've tried to move it multiple times, B1 makes a desultory attempt now and then, but her intentions always outstrip her capabilities and she won't recognise that. ("I can write two reports and enter six datasheets in a day! I can!" Narrator: "She could, in fact, write half a report and enter a single datasheet in a day.")

I'm just so frustrated and angry. Because the waste trucks shove all the stuff in the back and then crush it up. All of it. Even beautifully functional things that just aren't 'the look' anymore. And I can't save all of it. I can't even save half of it.

And then when we do keep something for five years, someone announces that they want it three fucking hours too late.

I'm upset on your behalf. Some people these days are a waste of space. She couldn't make up her mind in a weeks time!

"HUGS"

I'm in a similar position - I have this functional, but not exciting exercise bike that has been in my garage for at least 10 years. I have posted it EVERYWHERE for $15, then for free - and not a bite.

I have finally given up and we are having a bulky waste clean up week next week - so it's on the schedule for them to pick up. Apparently they send out a flatbed truck to take it away - so I'm thinking MAYBE they will be able to look at it and figure out that it's mostly metal so it can at least be recycled, maybe? But it won't just get squashed up in the truck.

And now my friend at the pool thinks she maybe wants it. I've said - you need to decide BEFORE the 16th, because if it's still in my garage at that point, I am putting it out - I'm not waiting around to see if you maybe want it. She said that was fair - so I've sent her a photo of it last night, and today I'll talk to her at the pool and see if she is still interested.

But oy - in your situation I would be just ANNOYED by all humanity right now.

That is very frustrating.
