The Characters Of Colour Multifandom Love-A-Thon community,
choc_fic, has opened for people to claim prompts for their September love-fest.
It's easy enough: pick one prompt of the many there - either 100 words or a piece or art/graphics, to be posted at the comm on the day that your prompt is listed.
There's Teyla, Ronon, Teyla pairings, Ronon pairings, team, at least one Teyla/Ronon, and a couple of OT3s and OT4s.
If you've always considered "writing Teyla" or "writing Ronon" but never actually done it, then this is a good place to start - because if you don't start somewhere, you won't start anywhere.

For those of you who are afraid of writing characters of colour, International Blog About Racism Week is coming up and there'll probably be at least a few posts on writing characters of colour, aliens, and People Who Aren't Like Me.
Frankly, as a woman of 100% Chinese background, and 100% Australian breeding, if I had to wait for a "character like me" to turn up on American television so I could write them, then I would never have gotten anything done! Don't even talk to me about Neighbours or Home And Away. One would think that there was no such thing as a Chinese take-away let alone a Vietnamese bakery in the happy world of 1980s White Australia...
