Well, I'm in Hong Kong, anyway, which does allow LJ and so I'm essentially back and have fic bits to post all over the place. :)

Since I'm not game to check out the last, oh, two weeks of LJ, anyone want to update me on the spoilers, goss, explosions, wank, rants, freaks, and good news on the fandom front?

Oh, Gods, I almost don't even want to ask, but what is SPN fandom up to now? Which lady do they hate the most this week and why?

Oh, it's actually the other way around. After Malleus Malefactorum there was a ton of meta about how this season (and that ep in particular) has become progressively more misogynist.

...

Seriously? SPN fandom complaining about misogyny? Honestly, I think that may be the only thing you could have said that still surprised me!

Well, this could be to do with the people I friend and places I hang out. If you'd like to see some of it, check out [livejournal.com profile] feminist_fandom a week or so back - but mostly I followed discussion across personal LJs.

Oh, and This Post (http://deadbeat-nymph.livejournal.com/15619.html?format=light), linked on [livejournal.com profile] metafandom, did a really nice job of going through the history and cultural context that made that ep just so infuriating. I'd been upset about Supernatural's underlying ideology since the show's beginning, but suddenly that ep made things blatant in a way that a lot of people couldn't ignore anymore.
