I don't get it.

They pretty much dropped the Carter/Allison interaction in S2 in favour of focusing on Carter's relationship with his daughter Zoe and the Allison/Stark interaction over Kevin and the artifact, so why are they playing it up now that she's gotten engaged to Stark again?

I haven't been able to figure out anything they've been doing this season. I'm about to stop watching...

from what i understand the writers wanted to break up the carter/allison connection thinking it came to fast and let them find there way back to each other slowly. the allison/stark connection was more of a re-connection over her son and the artifact imo but stark never stopped loving her and it was apparent from the moment he started the show.

Seems reasonable; since his first appearance you've known Stark still had it bad for Allison and Allison always played it friendly with Carter, he seemed to be the one more taken by her.

It didn't seem unreasonable for Stark and Allison to get back together after everything with Kevin, especially since the whole AU (bastards!) where Carter and Allison was married never transpired.

I think Carter's jealousy over Alli's relationship with Nathan was always there, he just hid it in favor of the person most important to him: his daughter. I haven't watched season 2 since it aired in the US, so I may be misremembering, but I think that Alli was also avoiding Carter. My belief, is that after the whole lock down thing and almost losing her son, she started rebuilding her friendship with Carter.

well it was only the first few episodes that they did it; but I find it understandable since Stark and Alli were getting married. I don't know if you've seen later episodes, but it's practically non-existent now.

Are you still looking for the back end of season 2?

Carter decided not to pursue a relationship with Allison for a number of excellent reasons (Nathan's constant c**k blocking, Alison's obvious connection to her ex and her confusion about her feelings for him come to mind), but he still cares - you can't turn your emotions off, I guess is the point. And her engagement to Stark would be the obvious catalyst to get feeeeelings, wowowoah feeeeeelings all stirred up again.

I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll just say keep watching and it'll start to make sense.

But there's also the possibility that they wanted to look at the love triangle from both angles. The first season it was sort of Stark on the outside, being jealous of the relationship (friendship or whatever) between Jack and Allison. Season two started to switch things over, and season three has far more of Jack on the outside. But, yeah, keep watching and things will start to become clear.

True. I'm curious about how early they learned about a certain someone's departure and whether that shaped the reason for the change in the triangle. It was pretty abrupt, which I wasn't entirely happy about. I wish they had dragged it out a bit. The guys vying for Allison's attention was always one of my favorite things.
