Here @ [livejournal.com profile] winter_elf's LJ .

She got annoyed by the John/Teyla questions - apparently there were many of them (probably not as many as she thought - that which annoys always seems disproporitionaltely greater than it truly is). I'd probably have gotten annoyed too - but I'd have understood why they were asking.

I can't say I wouldn't have asked, either - although my question would have been 'why?'

Just looking at these pics, I'm reminded once again of the fact that Rachel is beautiful and sweet and lively, and none of this was allowed to show in Teyla, or written into her character, or permitted rein. And while I love Rachel for being sweet and very patient with her fans, I kinda wish she'd had a bit more inclination to smack TPTB upside the head for ignoring her perfectly good character in favour of newbies and guest characters and everyone but her.

re: the questions about John/Teyla

I'm reminded of what Warren Ellis said after people had written to him over and over about whether or not he'd seen the pilot of Global Frequency.
(for clarity, Global Frequency was a comic he'd written and had been greenlit for a pilot, which was made. Before it was shown it was shelved then later leaked on to the Internet to critical acclaim).

Basically, Ellis said he hadn't seen it and would never watch it because it would hurt too much to see something he'd worked on up on screen knowing that because of stupid studio decision making. I have to think that Rachel is in the same position. Beyond John/Teyla, just having her character jerked around and barely on screen had to suck and at the same time, she's got a baby and needs the job till it's over. Grinning and bearing it because you know stuff is not the way it should be under better conditions. And not wanting the same end as Torri.

Yeah, it's a bummer for us as fans (although given the way John has been written this season, I wouldn't really want him that much) but I hope folks have more understanding for her.
