TITLE: Of Colonels and Cattle
SUMMARY: "Wait, you're telling me that we're here to negotiate Colonel Sheppard's stud fees?"
RATING: PG-13
CHARACTERS: team, Alicia Vega, Amelia Banks, 2 OCs.
CATEGORY: Humour, team.
RECIPIENT: Written for [livejournal.com profile] tanaquisga in the [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa challenge: she wanted gen, team, diplomatics, alliances, witty/snarky dialogue, or a story that explored the charcter back-stories.
NOTES: Oh, how I struggled with this. And struggled. And then struggled some more. My problem wasn't the request per se, so much as that I wasn't quite in the right space to write the request she wanted. I was really, really hoping to get a John/Teyla themed request, but I think a grand total of three people optioned John/Teyla, and they were handed to others.

I'm really glad that [livejournal.com profile] mad_maudlin was handed [livejournal.com profile] vipersweb's request, though, because without it, we'd never have gotten "Heternomativity", which is mensa AU, fantastically written, and utterly hilarious, even if I find it slightly OOC, even as it manages to stay IC. (No, I know that sentence doesn't make sense. I can't explain it. It's both right and wrong at the same time and...oh, heck. I'm just going to stop here and say that you should spare an hour and read it, because it's long, it's well-written, it's freaking AWESOME, and it's John/Teyla. And don't tell me you don't like John/Teyla, because this story, you will!)

For those who love team and John and Rodney getting it about Pegasus, I point you to "The Truth About Alliances" by [livejournal.com profile] vipersweb. If you love Pegasus and all it's wild, wild array of possibility and character and culture, plus teamyness, and John/Teyla that works within their canon characterisation and within the storylines of S5, you'll like this one. Go and read!

(Yes, that was just a massive rec at the tail end of my fic post.)

*coughs* Ultimately, the story I wrote this year wasn't quite as good as I was hoping it would be, but that often happens - more often than not, lately. Hoever, quite a few new people (ie. not people who usually comment on my work) commented on this story, so I reached a new audience, which is always a yay! experience.
