Firstly a log cabin, then a hexagon quilt.

I've got a whole bunch of jelly rolls that need using up, so this is a very useful kind of project for it. not sure about putting it all together, but we'll work it out, I'm sure!
Log cabins are generally pretty easy, and I can make a whole batch of squares in the space of an afternoon. I did about 2/3 of the squares in that photo on Saturday. There's a lot more to go before it's finished, but it's an excellent 'spare time' kind of project.
The second quilt is a 'test pattern' prototype for a quilt I want to make out of lots of hexagons - but not a beeswax configuration (hexagons tightly packed), which is the usual configuration for hexagon quilts, but more like this - only each hexagon will be made out of a charm square.

That's the 'test pattern' made out of some left-over charm squares after I planned the colours for the quilt a couple of years back. And the triangles (I hope) will be a similar kind of 'flow' only in opposing colours along the quilt.
It looks really good in my head, anyway! :D
I just hope it's not beyond my skill level!
