So, the weekend was spent:
a) quilting,
b) watching Fringe with
allisnow
In between those two activities, I:
c) visited my grandmother,
d) met with
arabel,
e) went to the local foodie markets,
f) played hockey.
I finished nine of the Supernova blocks (with another 7 to go, at least four of which still need the sub-units pieced together), and laid them out and they look very pretty. (Pic of four of them - from last week.)
I watched 7 episodes of Fringe S2, which was good, although not quite as much as S1 - other than the first episode. (Needs more Olivia!)
Had a brief catch-up with my grandmother who's in a nursing home. I'm going to try to see her once a week from now on. I know I've said this before, but she's fading really fast now. And I'm going to take pics during the week and show them to her on the weekends for something to see that isn't the walls of her room or the inside of the nursing home.
Had a longer catch-up with
arabel which involved very good Japanese, and very good hot chocolate at San Churras chocolateria, some serious issues in navigation of Westfield Chatswood, and a lot of talking.
Finally, hockey. My first time playing with team 2 as a member of team 2, and we won 6-0. Not as good as team 1 which won against their opponents 7-0, but good enough for us!
It was a solid game - not a brilliant one, but solid. I find that I play up according to need and the players on my team, and so I played...solidly, but not anything particularly noteworthy. That was one reason why I liked being on team 1: I always had to push myself to keep up.
For the 2nd half of last night's game, I played a back, and a half-back, which was fine by me since we're short on the defensive side of things. I even scored a goal while playing back! (It wasn't even an own goal - ie. one which a defense player accidentally scores for the attacking team.) Short corner: I hit it in from the baseline, someone passed it back in and I deflected it into the goal. Sweet!
Not so sweet: the slight blister I developed on my instep arch from something that was rubbing against the soft flesh there for most of the 2nd half of the game. Didn't have a chance to check to see what it was. Doesn't hurt much this morning. More annoying.
All in all, not my best game: I play better when I'm really challenged.
The big kicker was the time: it was a 9pm night game which was ugh to play at. And meant I got home, drowned myself in a hot bath, and didn't get to bed until midnight.
All things considered, it was a pretty good weekend.
