Ew, you didn't tell me it was a Diane Feinstein quote. ;)

I have to read this again but having participated in war games before (in my ROTC days), I can tell you that having the rules switch midstream is very real.

Yay for Teyla taking up Ronon's challgenge and thinking her way through it. You really showed a lot of nuances in her character in this that I really loved. Strategy, tactics, adaptability - of course Teyla can do these thing but I liked how you showed her taking everything in and then working each piece out.

Lots of fun.

So very well done! Lighthearted and a fun read but with some serious undertones. So many things stood out for me: the hamali fruit and John using Teyla's fondness for it to tease Rodney; Teyla's treatment of Captain Kilmer when it is obvious he has issues with her; axe vs. the skinning knife; Teyla figuring out how to find Ronon using the comm. system; the techs discussing the Atlantis influence on Ronon and Teyla; Teyla not having someone do what she would not do, unless she could not do it; Sheppard and the cuffs.

And I LOVE these lines -

"Hurt him, and seven years running from the Wraith will be nothing in comparison to what I will do to you."

"Perhaps she would outclass him instead."

"You know, he caught me by surprise."

"Me, Teyla; you, John." -- priceless, just priceless!

I'd love to be a fly on the wall during the post-mission briefing for this -- especially John's expression when he finds out what Teyla said to Ronon.

Thanks for sharing this!

Sorry that you're kind of stressed right now, so much so that you're cutting down your friends list. But I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed this story. It's very tightly woven and I absolutely LOVE Teyla as the lead character, making the decisions and having the opportunity to come to the front and show off. Great story telling! Thanks for writing it.
