I have cooked raspberry and white choc chip muffins, french onion soup, and sweet tofu. And it is very good.

And I've been doing sewing things again. Partly because I had an exchange pouch to make, but partly because I've been intending to sort out the study for a while and...just never got around to it.

a round tuit )

Otherwise, I've been trying to clean up the sewing space, sorting and organising fabrics, scraps, bags of projects, and tidying away boxes of yardage. Yesterday and today, I sorted out all the bags of fabric, scraps, and 'whatnot' that had been stashed around. I'm really going to have to work out a scrap sorting system, because what I have right now is horrifically unwieldy and just not going to work.

I also need to actually use the scraps I have. Of course, that's another matter entirely. At leat I have a couple of 'fast' patterns now, easy to put together and still pretty vistually dramatic.

I'd love to do Frocktober, but I don't know if I have enough frocks.

I mean, I have some seriously fancy ones, but...they're for wearing out to parties and stuff. Ordinary, 'everyday' dresses are not such a thing.

And there's no way I'd be able to make a dress for every day of October.

Plus, I want a few more dresses with sleeves. And sleeves are hard to fit correctly. :/

I always forget how much effort the Shiloh Satchel is, even when simplified. There needs to be structuring to this bag because it's pretty top heavy, and it's not always enough to hold it all up and together.

But it's such a pretty, useful bag! *whines*

Anyway, this is the early early stages. The colour in the photo isn't accurate to real life - the blue is the same as the Parisville bowl bag.

I'm skipping the handles, and just going for the shoulder strap, although now - given my uncertainty about whether the parallel gold lines properly evoke the uniforms - I'm wondering if maybe I should have gone for the handles and made Federation logo shaped handle plackets. (Eh. Too much effort given I have until the weekend to do this and how complicated this is going to be.)

Trying to find a good bag pattern for my craft swap, but the best ones that I can find are the ones I've already made.

Either the Fireside Bowl Bag:

Or the Shiloh Satchel:

I'd probably downsize the Shiloh Satchel - there's a kind of 'handbag' option, instead of the full shoulderbag.

Question for you, though: which form would you be more likely to use? Particularly if it's made to one of your favourite fandoms?

I admit, I'm very heavily practical, so I usually run around with a FOSSIL leather satchel, but sometimes when I'm going somewhere where there are sewing people, I pick one or the other to use - they're pretty spacious inside and good for carrying plenty of things! (Although the Shiloh Satchel has so many pockets, I forget exactly what is where...)

Anyway, your thoughts?
