tielan: (hates it we does)

There's a part of me right now that desperately can't wait to be in recovery, if only because I'll be utterly bored with lying around.

At least, that's the theory.

It's just go-go-go right now, finishing off work and handing over to my replacement, bringing her up to speed, dealing with my new area lead who keeps on assigning me work, and trying to get things done around the garden and house now because the next month after this will be mostly asking people for help.

Which I can do. And people are glad to help! Or they say they are. (Don't overthink it, self. If they weren't glad to help, they wouldn't turn up.)

Oh, and
TMI: lower bodily things battling a UTI and the resurgence of my period every couple of days, at the same time. At one point there was almost certainly blood in my urine. This is not something that you want right before they have to separate your uterus from your bladder, amirite?

And, of course, the period is still going: one day on, one day off...

And then there's traveling on public transport, hyperalert to every bloody cough. That's been fun.

I'm so tired... I kind of want to skip bible study tonight, but it's been a couple of weeks since I went, and it'll be a couple more weeks before I can go again. But also, there's at least one person (new to the group) who's combatative right wing and...it's not restful.

ETA: I skipped it.

I'm debating how to tell my friendsgroups that I'm doing the yeeterus. Some people have picked up on it, others asked outright, I straight-up told the hockey team. I told work it was surgery, but haven't told them what. Among my friends group I'm open about going into surgery on Friday, exactly how detailed I get depends on the person.

On the up side of stuff: a friend came out as trans to me this afternoon. Like, dude, I already knew. But I appreciate the trust.

Also: I got a haircut. It's quite a nice one, I think. We'll see if it stays nice to tomorrow...

Finished paint on kitchen windows, did one coat of bathroom (might be enough for just one). Made a plan for mosaics on the bathroom window.

full house )

It's a lot. I'm not sure I'm even going to manage it. There's a few things to throw out and sort through still, all of B1's room to clear (she didn't manage it before the windows, and I have a feeling she's barely going to manage it before she goes overseas) and I suspect I'm going to be holding the storage space all winter...

--

GOALS for the week
- go for a run every day (okay, I didn't manage today; too exhausted)
- seal up the windows/baseboards in the study, my bedroom
- get B1's bookcase out of her room and onto marketplace
- write my fiction words every day

To start with, death of a pet )

--

The windows have been delivered - just the frames. They put the glass in and gas them as they install them, and installation begins Monday. It's a little scary, to be honest. I am hoping they do the internal and external finishes well, because otherwise that's going to be a PITA to fix.

But, wow, we're almost there!

3 days if all goes well (they said), 4-5 if it gets complicated.

The cats will go to a cattery from Sunday night through to Friday; they're likely going to hate it - all these other cats, and then coming home to a place that's strange and weird and not-the-same. I need to spend some time with them this weekend. It's very local - a five minute drive away.

Someone is coming to take the couch tomorrow. That was a saga-and-a-half.

three interested parties )

I've had over 30 messages in the last three days, though, asking if the lounge was still available. I haven't answered most of them.

Speaking of the verge; getting things out for council clean-up. Hooboy. I'm doing a fairly major clean-up which means a whole bunch of things that I've used a little but which aren't seeing full and proper use. Including a greenhouse, two aquariums, a rusty wheelbarrow, an umbrella stand, assorted cushions, and an old-fashioned desk that we're just not using.

I'm tempted to put the IKEA desk-shelf out, too, but given the state of the weather, am worried about it getting rained on and ruined. Got enough stuff out there that probably shouldn't be rained on...

The likely windows for Monday are the laundry and bathroom, which means taking things down around and about them this weekend. I also need to take the awnings off - I've asked friends from church, but it's very late notice and I doubt I'll get them. If nobody responds, I'll probably ask the neighbour if he'll help (maybe he and his son?) - I just need some people to hold the things who aren't going to flinch. If I had permies, that would work fine. Unfortunately my immediate 'permie group' are all older women (I'm the baby of the group), and the few closer to my own age are always busy and hard to pin down - and a couple of them are overseas right now.

I should have asked earlier in the week. *sigh*

And even gladder that I had something scheduled on that day which meant that work was reluctant to call me back in.

my life )

I want to find a hole, curl up, and have a good cry right now. All the things, all at once.

Last night I got home to discover the parental house's powerpoints weren't working. The lights were fine, but the powerpoints weren't playing ball. I checked the fusebox and...discovered a lot of switches. Flippy things. Without instructions. And definitely not intuitive. Call me an electrical dinosaur, but I like the old ceramic fuses with their wires. So much simpler to deal with!

Anyway, I tried to flip the 'Power' switch back on...and it promptly flipped off again. Couldn't work out how to reset it, so I left it.

Result? All plug-in-electricals have been off in the house for the last fifteen hours, including the fridge/freezer, the TV, and the modem.

I just hope they don't find themselves having to eat all the meat in the freezer in the next 2 days!

I've discovered that I don't sleep well at the parental house when the parentals aren't home. Too busy fretting about the cats I'm minding and what they might do while I'm sleeping...like pee in my clothing. Thank heavens it's only for a few days and the parentals are back this morning.

Still, the result is that I'm pretty much exhausted after the weekend and am looking forward to going back and sleeping in my own bed with my kitty.

This is the point at which I could probably use a Nikola Tesla icon, right?
