So, I haven't sent out my Christmas cards yet: want one?

I came down with a 48 hour flu over the weekend. There was shaking and hot-and-cold sweats, a nose that ran the Boston Marathon in record time, and I ended up sleeping in most of the Monday morning at which I was supposed to be starting three weeks of work at a previous client. But frankly it was the Best Sleep-In Ever and I woke feeling human enough to run a few errands and do stuff that I'd planned to do on the weekend but didn't have the energy for.

Today I'm at work, feeling mildly crappy but not utterly awful, and mildly crappy is at least manageable. I've left my phone behind, which means I can't check my email or my social media at all, because this company limits EVERYTHING. On the plus side, it means I'm not fretting too much about how crappy the world is becoming. (Guardian UK: The Shattering Of The Upward Mobility Promise. I think this applies to Australia and almost certainly America, too, right now.)

The vision in my right eye is starting to get a little blurry - that's the side where there was an infection in the upper back molar which got removed, and where there's still a little 'puff' of tooth filling spilling out of the root canal for the next molar along, and where the area is still swollen and giving me occasional twinges and muscle aches up the jaw and temple. I think I might have to make an optometrist's appointment sometime soon - ideally before next Monday afternoon when I have an appointment with the dentist who insists that that puff of tooth filling shouldn't be causing any issues at all and thinks it's a myalgia (a.k.a. all in my head). I need an eye test anyway, along with a new pair of glasses. I keep losing a pair and needing to replace it with my 'backup pair' which then requires that I acquire another backup pair in case of further loss...

I'm signing up for [community profile] fandom_stocking again, because I always do and because a little happiness is always nice come New Year - and may be especially necessary come January!

Also, if you have a wish list of some/any kind that you'd like me to look at, please link me. I've spotted a few around, but haven't delved deep, largely due to ughness through November. Given this contract runs until at least Christmas, I think I'm in a position to be able to help some people out.

flu things always suck

[community profile] holiday_wishes exists; here's mine :)

I don't even need to read that article to tell you that if that article refers to the US in any tense other than past, then the article is mistaken, 'cause that promise done shattered decades ago. (of course, certain demographics never had the promise in the first place. as you know Bob, racism has economic effects...)

Hugs and prayers and blessings! I haven't sent out my cards yet either. I keep telling myself too, nor have I signed up for Fandom Stocking yet, though I plan too. I suspect it'll take me a while to plug in all my little fandoms.

If your vision is getting blurry and you suspect an infection, you should go see your family doctor - or, if you don't have one, a walk-in clinic. In Canada, at least, optometrists can't prescribe antibiotics, just vision aides. You need an M.D. to prescribe antibiotics, which neither dentists nor optometrists have.

Your dentist probably will continue to insist there's nothing wrong, since they never want to admit to mistakes.

Here's hoping you're on the mend soon.

I always enjoy and look forward to Fandom stocking every year.

I'm so sorry about your eye! And your tooth. I was hoping that the reason you weren't talking about your health was that things had improved ...
