So, I'm travelling to Vietnam on Saturday for five days to stay with my dad, then spending the Easter weekend in Singapore with a friend and her dad.
My body is really nervous about this. Right tooth/sinus is twinging. Right big toe has been aching. Right hand feels swollen and stiff.
I swear that my cheek has been throbbing more since the diagnosis on Saturday. The foot/toe has definitely been feeling it since I played a one-hour game (40 minutes, really) last Sunday. And the excessive heat of the weekend has not really helped the hand.
Vietnam with my dad will (hopefully) be relaxing. He keeps on wanting to take me up into the midlands to show me the Viet Cong tunnels, and the villages where the US military atrocities were the worst. Which, yes, I would like to see and learn and be reminded, but also would like not to exacerbate my physical issues.
I'm looking forward to Singapore - I've never been there before, only through Changi airport, but my big concern there is walking around in crazy heat. Which will do my feet absolutely no favours. But still...food!
*sigh*
I think I'm not going to be able to play hockey this year. I didn't even play yesterday! It got cancelled due to crazy heat; and then it was back on again at the organiser's insistence, and then it got cancelled again. After we'd left the house and turned up at the field. ARGH.
Club Player: Are we still playing, it's supposed to be up to 40C tomorrow?
Club President: I'll check, we really should cancel since it's going to be that hot.
Game Organiser: Oh, okay, I guess we'll cancel.
Club President: Games aren't on.
Game Organiser: Oh wait, other teams are insistent on playing. Games go on, just 2 hours later.
Club President: Shit, girls. Games are on. Sorry about this.
Club Player: It's the same temperature 2 hours later, so moving the time back did nothing. NOPE.
Club President: I've been trying to get hold of the organiser for the last six hours. She's not answering her phone!
Other Team 1: We were told it's still on, so we turned up, but we heard that Other Team 2 was scrambling to find players.
Me: So WTF was going on with the "other teams are insistent on playing" business?

But my right foot is still very much not happy after last weekend's game, so I think that playing this year is going to be out.

Luckily, my stepbrother lived in Singapore for 18 months and was helpful with advice on how to survive in the city.
