Recs first:

The Same Voice by [livejournal.com profile] purple_cube: John/Teyla - doppelgänger!Sheppard and a living!Sumner in Atlantis! What's not to love?

A Preference For Temperate Weather by [livejournal.com profile] pentapus: John/Teyla - John and Teyla on Earth (with possible John/Teyla/Rodney threesome angles)!

Pox by [livejournal.com profile] iheartkeys: It's labelled John/Teyla, but it's really John&Teyla and John&team and is adorable for the image of John running around looking after his sick team-mates.

And a couple of fics:

Take - John/Teyla, Conversion-fic,

All Or Nothing - Ronon/Elizabeth, Earth-fic.

I was thinking about writing a Rodney/Ronon kiss for that challenge, but ran out of time.

Oh, and the Porn Battle is coming up, so getcha smut ideas up and lined!

I was thinking of a specific interview where he was asked about on-show chemistry, and said something to the effect of: "Sheppard and Weir don't have chemistry; Sheppard and Teyla do, and the show's been written to take advantage of that."

I vaguely remember that interview. I think that can be interpreted a lot of ways though - chemistry between characters doesn't necessarily mean romance. And I can certainly see where that is coming from - there is definitely more between John and Teyla as characters than there is John and Elizabeth, which could lead to even more between John an Teyla. At present, I can see them as a couple in well written fiction, but outside of that, I struggle to see them as anything other than sibling-like.

I actually find it amusing that I don't really see subtext in SGA so much, mainly due to a contingent of hardcore shippers using it to further militant behaviour, yet when I read interviews I always find some. Especially with Joe who is the king of subtext. I often wonder if I just read interviews wrong...

Oh, definitely. There's a lot of stuff that hasn't been addressed for the characters - part of which is because it's an action-adventure show rather than a drama - but partly because TPTB are lazy on the emotional/personal side of the stories.

I would say mostly column B personally, with column A as the excuse for that behaviour. I recall the whole spiel about 'parameters of a hero' from various sources and just thought to myself - "None of you are 24 fans then?" I still don't understand why they think the 'hero' has to be this person who cannot be vulnerable or have weaknesses or deficiencies. Jack Bauer's have made for a way more interesting character than I ever see John Sheppard ever being in canon.

I REALLY should sleep...
