Okay, we're on the home stretch of the hiatus.
So who's going to be watching S4?
Currently, I'm presuming that all Elizabeth-fanatics and Shweirs are boycotting S4 other than the eps that have Elizabeth. If you're only watching "Elizabeth episodes", it doesn't count as "watching S4."
I'm looking for the people who are going to watch S4 - all of it - whether via network or download. And I'd rather like to know what they're looking forward to seeing (if they're looking forward to anything).
Me? I'm primarily looking forward to more Teyla. Surprising, eh?
Yes, I may be disappointed by it; I have before. But it's hope or despair. Despair ain't pretty; I'll stick with hope, thanks.

And I am a Sam-fan :) So I am looking forward to her a lot.

I admit, this always bewilders me a little - possibly because I never saw Jessica Steen's Weir in action. (Drifted out of SG1 in late S7, didn't get back until the end of S8.)
Disappointed, how?
I kinda wonder sometimes: is there anyone who's disappointed in the portrayal of McKay in Atlantis as compared to his role in Stargate SG1? Granted, it's been Hewlett all the way, but the role of McKay - the purpose of him - was different from SG1 to SGA.
Personally, I preferred the way he was used in SGA: as flavouring, a spice. I find Rodney overpowering as the main meal of Atlantis.

I'll watch SGA no matter what, because for me it's not all about one character. Teyla is my fav and if she was to be the one to leave I'd still watch because I love the show, it's an ensemble show... not the Weir story, or Carson story.
I am most looking forward to the development of Teyla this season. Other things I'm excited about our learning more about Sheppards past, Jeanie!!, Sam in command and Keller (I'm a Jewel fangirl, she needs to become a regular in season 5!!)
Oh, and there's always the added bonus of more ship progress!! *points to icon made by a uber talented person ;-)*

But I still watched from week to week. It was...generally entertaining...if not exactly the character development or plot I'd hoped for.

Personally, I'm hoping that they'll find their stride, pick up the SG1 people who've been hesitant about coming into SGA with Carter, and drag S5 into the picture...

You need to come back into SGA a little. Just a leetle! :(

I really love the show...and they can't take it completely off the rails while (most of) the actors are still there, so I do have faith.
Bring it on!

I understand. I sorta swap between excited and ambivalent, to tell you the truth. Sam's my favourite SG1 character and there's huge potential for awesome interactions; but there's huge potential for screwing up, too.
Right now, I'm trusting that JM is telling the truth when he says that Sam's not going to take over the show.
In a way, I'm relieved that she's only guest starring, and that it'll only be 14 episodes. Hopefully, she'll be more like Hammond than like Elizabeth, leaving more time to focus on the team - and Teyla and Ronon in particular.

I'm looking forward to seeing more team eps, character developments, a good season arc (seeing as though S2 and S3 were just a mess of episodes with an arc thrown haphazardly in there in the end)...pretty much the whole shibang. The episode I'm most looking forward to is "Doppleganger" - the Shep whump of all Shep whumps! :D I'm convinced they're going to deliever this year from all the spoilers I've read and the lurking I've done on various cast members websites and JM's blog. But I could be wrong.

Hopefully not!
Heh. I'll actually be in the US the week after the 28th, so I'll get to see from episode 2 onwards! And I'll be with Stargate friends during episode 3! Woohoo!

Honestly, I am a fan of the show and not specific characters. Yes, I'll get annoyed if the show does something I don't like or something that doesn't make sense, (Like Carson's death) BUT I won't stop watching unless the show really goes down the drain. I have come to expect such things from SGA so am going in forewarned.

That's the thing, though, isn't it? SGA isn't utterly brilliant TV. It's no 'Heroes' or 'BSG' when it comes down to it. I mean, there are so many places they could take the show, and they've done so little with those possibilities!
In the end, it's an hour's mindless entertainment each week (45 minutes for those of us downloading) and that's really it. Except for the fanfic, of course.

Hopefully the season will inspire more J/T fic ... perhaps even from me. :)

I don't think it would be possible to inspire more J/T fic from me! So, yes, hopefully from you!

Oooh, and I hope Keller's going to be cool.

Shep/Teyla/Lorne! WOOHOO!

I freely admit to having a few misgivings about Carter coming on board (though I do love her on SG-1--just not sure about her presence on SGA), but I'm still going to be watching. I'm looking very much forward to the promised character development for all of the team and am hopeful that it will make this a season to remember. (in a good way!)

That pretty much describes my attitude to it. Watching, but with misgivings. Hopeful, but with fears. And, yeah, I'm totally hoping this season (now freed of the unseen burden of SG1 production at the same time) kicks ass...
Your icon totally cracks me up! (And I just had a crackerrific plotbunny appear. *shoots it and disposes of the body*)

I'm sincerely hoping that Elizabeth's departure (whether temporary or permanent) will shake things up a bit. I think Sam's arrival will help with that. Frankly, I'd like to see the gang give Sam a hard time. It's not that I don't like Sam or am a sadist or anything, but on SG-1 she was kinda the go-to person. She solved a lot of the crises, was a hero several times over, was one of the front runners for the Stargate program, one of the "cool kids", etc. I'd like to see her take a different role in Atlantis. She's not one of the founders, doesn't know as much about the Ancients or their technology, doesn't know how things work exactly, and I'd like to see her work through those adjustments. In short, I don't want her transition to be seamless because that, I think, would just ring false. Ooo, I've thought a lot about this. :)
I'm uber-excited about Teyla's story arc and I look forward to getting a lot more backstory on both her and Ronon as well as John and Rodney (to a lesser extent). Yea, S4!!

Crazy people!
I'd like to see her take a different role in Atlantis.
Yes. So very much yes. Right now, I'm sincerely hoping that her role in Atlantis will be very different to her role in SG1 - I mean, it should be, but there's always the danger/concern that the writers might focus on her to the exclusion of other characters - particularly Teyla and Ronon.

As disappointed as I was with so much of last season, there were parts I really liked and parts that intrigued me. I too want to see how they handle the changes and I live in hope that they actually challenge the characters this time.

It would be nice to see them really develop the characters in conflict. They spent a lot of S3 coasting along. :/
