Okay, we're on the home stretch of the hiatus.

So who's going to be watching S4?

Currently, I'm presuming that all Elizabeth-fanatics and Shweirs are boycotting S4 other than the eps that have Elizabeth. If you're only watching "Elizabeth episodes", it doesn't count as "watching S4."

I'm looking for the people who are going to watch S4 - all of it - whether via network or download. And I'd rather like to know what they're looking forward to seeing (if they're looking forward to anything).

Me? I'm primarily looking forward to more Teyla. Surprising, eh?

Yes, I may be disappointed by it; I have before. But it's hope or despair. Despair ain't pretty; I'll stick with hope, thanks.

In the end, it's an hour's mindless entertainment each week (45 minutes for those of us downloading) and that's really it. Except for the fanfic, of course.

My boyfr. and I were having this discussion at dinner with some friends of mine. Essentially, N. is very much a scifi/fantasy snob. He finds SG1 and SGA to be very uninspiring and doesn't like watching them. (Of course, he has no problem watching Naruto, whereas, I find that to be very annoying.) I, OTOH, watch a lot of Scifi shows ranging from SGA to BSG to Dr. Who to Eureka. It's definitely a grab bag of decent to mindless entertainment.

I think part of the reason I like to watch SGA is for the fanfic element. It helps to see the basis for which fanfic authors get their ideas from. Take [profile] ltlj Retrograde series. The basis for the series is essentially "What if it took Earth longer than one year to reconnect with Atlantis?" I personally think it is a good idea if the PTB had actually taken that route b/c we would have seen more development of characters. It would have forced Weir to take a more active role rather than be the person who sat around waiting for Sheppards team to come home or having Sheppard ignore her orders. We could have seen more integration with Pegasus and perhaps seen Teyla and other Athosians in a more active role.

Regarding the whole Sam thing; I liked her well enough on SG1 though I thought they made her a cliche character and I thought they messed up when they made Cam leader of SG1 over her. I don't think they are bringing her over to SGA for the right reasons, and I suspect we're going to see the PTB fold on creating conflict between chain of command issues between her and John. I have never thought she was the best character from SG1 to come over to SGA.

I'm just hoping that they actually develop Teyla and Ronon more this season. They could be so much more interesting than they are!
