There's a Women Love Fest going on over at [livejournal.com profile] womenlovefest.

Initially begun to celebrate the women that fandom hates, it's more generally turned into a women love-fest, simply because every female character in the history of fandom has been run down by someone who thinks she shouldn't have kissed/smiled/spoken to/stood beside a male character, or dressed like a slut/whore/woman who's comfortable in her own skin, or done something good/something clever/something morally questionable/anything at all.

So far, I've found threads for Teyla, Jennifer, and Elizabeth in Stargate Atlantis; Sam and Vala in Stargate SG1; Helen, Ashley, and Kate in Sanctuary; Olivia and Altlivia in Fringe; Morgana and Gwen from Merlin; and Ziva from NCIS - to name a bunch of my most popular fandoms - but there are plenty more fandoms and plenty more threads!

I know the majority of my f-list love the female characters, so I think this counts as 'relevant to our interests'.

We drew the hockey finals, which means that we're in the Grand Finals as the team that's higher on the ladder!

It, I think, was an awesome game. 5-5 both ways, with them getting two goals ahead to begin with - one of them in the first minute of the game - before we started kicking back. I got our first goal, and three other people scored the other goals. But I had several chances on goal which bounced off the goalie pads, alas.

We played well, they played well, they were good sports - although one of their girls got carded for shouldering and one of our girls got carded for hacking - and we hung on for grim life.

Some of our players got a bit narky with each other at the end of the game - partly because we didn't know what was going on and they were getting anxious. They were the older members of the team, too - and a hothead or two - but I think we settled them enough.

But, y'know, even if we'd lost, it would have been a really great game.

I wish I'd gone to church tonight - I forgot there was a fellowship dinner on, which I could have attended - but I was kind of too exhausted at the end of the game to do more than take a shower and flop on the couch with half a chicken and the Beeb's recent series of Emma.
