Not as enjoyable as 'Search And Rescue', perhaps, but okay. :)
Teyla and the baby that won't sleep talking to Keller. Well, I guess that's Teyla's appearance in the episode...
Arrival of Woolsey - interesting choice of fmusic. Love that Rodney stands up last. And it's straight into business.
Rodney is so funny/cute to Keller. Mainland? This planet also has a mainland? Why not an archipelago for once?
You know, I rather like Woolsey's bloodlessness at this stage. He's bureaucrat, not a not a leader, he deals with numbers and paperwork, not names and people. Sam's learned to be beyond a scientist,
So far? I'm rather pleased by the fact that John's the one overseeing people, but Teyla's the one who drives the action - including roping in Rodney to open Jennifer's door, getting Carson to step away, and letting John know the situation.
Heh. Woolsey has some neat lines: Carson medicobabbles and Woolsey comes back with, "For the uninitiated?"
Okay, I love that Radek is halfway between horrified and thrilled at what's going on. And that Teyla is taking military command over the marines. And that she and Radek have scenes together!
Although they shouldn't be separating! SEPARATING IS BADNESS!
Radek *thinks* he has something? It's quite obvious he has something. And now I have visions of Species, and the pod things.
NOOO! RADEK!
I hope Ronon gets to fix the solution. I really hope he gets to do it.
"Nothing out of the ordinary then." Oh, I've missed Carson. He knows Rodney.
*watches the rest of the episode*
You know, part of me was hoping that Teyla would get to show of her Wraith Mind-Control Trick of Awesome and go up against the Seed Hiveship. But clearly John must save the day.
"Welcome to the Pegasus galaxy."
--
Overall, the ep had its moments. Although, yet again, it's a female character that's the victim. And Sheppard saves the day over Ronon. That must be in JF's contract, you know? "Must Save The Day In Every Episode." And whatshername is whinging that TPTB don't love Joe F or Sheppard because he doesn't get any character episodes. That is complete barmy twerpshit, my dear, and absolute twaddle. TPTB may not love Joe F or Sheppard the way you do, but there can be no doubt that he's their favourite character to save the day and show up everyone else.
And there'd better be more Teyla in the next episode to make up for her absence in the last twenty minutes.

Do you suppose TPTB have forgotten they're on a different planet now? Because I think that's a real possibility.
I thought it was pretty fun, overall. Nothing profound, but not bad. The only complaint I have is that Woolsey seems to be coming to the "The Rules Weren't Made For Situations Like This" realization too quickly for my tastes. I really want to see him and Shep seriously butt heads. Repeatedly. There's no way someone like Shep would get along easily with someone like Woolsey in command. Shep had a pretty smooth relationship with Weir, for the most part, coming out of the necessities of the early days of the expedition. And I can see him and Carter getting along well, since she's SG-1 and therefore almost as mutinous as he is when situations call for it. But Woolsey? Hell to the naw.
My dream scenario that will never happen? Woolsey continues being the same well-meaning, but ultimately short sighted beaurocrat who just doesn't get it that he's become. Meanwhile, the Expedition looses what faith they have left in Earth leadership, especially what with the new emphasis on IOA control, and start informally turning to Shep and Teyla instead. They end up effectively running Atlantis with Woolsey really acting as a figurehead. When Woolsey finds out the full extent of what's been going on, things with the IOA come to a head ending with Atlantis giving Earth the finger and striking out on their own.
Really, all of my dream scenarios end with Atlantis giving Earth the finger and striking out on their own. But I know this will not happen. I'll take what I can get from the show, and right now it's not too bad!

I was happy to know that Kanaan didn't just randomly disappear (which was one of my few qualms with the premiere). Although it does put a tiny damper on my shipper hopes. :) I have to wonder what TPTB are gonna do with the relationship b/w Teyla & Kanaan...hmmm....
Maybe TPTB are trying to get over their hero dependency one person at a time. :D They kinda phased out Rodney, and only John was there (with a healthy dose of Ronon) to save the day. Maybe next week we can have Teyla saving the day, or even someone random, like Chuck. :D It never hurts to dream.
You just know that if Teyla had been the one to go in there she would've gotten out w/o being skewered. :D

Only when you wake up, perhaps. :)
I think that 'randomly disappearing' is something they're going to do with characters a lot this season. Teyla vanished halfway through the ep and neither sight nor reference was made of her.
You just know that if Teyla had been the one to go in there she would've gotten out w/o being skewered. :D
Absolutely! Because she would have used her Wraith Mind Control Powerz to control the seed, interfacing with the proto-hiveship in the same way that she does with the hiveship. And there would have been awesome struggle involved with her battling the seed while John and/or Ronon got through the Jennifer...
*sigh*

I wanted Ronon to save the day os well, for reasons I'm sure are different than yours. ;)
However, John saving the day did give him that moment (which I forgot to mention in my review) where he was prepared to shoot Jennifer if the antidote didn't work. That would have sucked, and I guess it's established that John is the go-to guy when something like that needs to be done (thinks of "Rising" and "Miller's Crossing).

Is it bad that a part of me wishes he had?
Dude, there was more Sheppard/Keller chemistry than Ronon/Rodney/Keller.
Though I did love Ronon's 'eyebrow' to Rodney when he said he'd do it, lol.
Some pretty good character moments for them all, not just one of them. I liked the Keller/Teyla interaction at the start and I liked John going to Keller and telling her 'well done' for getting Carson out of stasis.
But Carson still has my heart :) I've missed him so :)

LOL. I noticed that, too. John was looking really pained when he first saw what was happening to Jen, too. I was like, "hmm." It's too early to tell really, but it seems John was being kind of pretective (?) of Jen. Maybe they're going for the whole big bro thing with their relationship. *shrug*
I do think the Ronon/Keller/Rodney triangle has been way overly hyped. As much as I love my ships, I don't want this turning into a soap opera. That's so not why I watch the show. I totally watch it for Jason Momoa. :P
Yeah, I couldn't say that with a straight face. Ronon is my favorite character, though.

I'm glad Kanaan wasn't just disposed of, though Teyla wanting them to come back to the city was a bit... heart before mind.
I liked Woolsey, a lot, to be honest. I loved his little turn of the head when the doors behind him slid shut in the briefing room, lol.
A lot of the dialogue was so obviously to fill the gaping plot holes from last season/S&R. "Kanaan and the Athosians", "Colonel Carter has also been quarantined". Just sort of filling the space.
I liked it though. Even that scene at the end between Woolsey & John.
I loved Carson calling John "John". Don't know why but it warmed my wee heart.
Re: a comment above - I wouldn't be surprised if TPTB have forgotten they're on a different planet. Hey, the even forgot Teyla's full title from the first episode ;)

I see what you're saying. I the problem is that there's still so much we don't know about Johns past. "Out Cast" was supposed to show some back story on his character, but it didn't really do much in that regard. It's like, Ok, you have a ex-wife (we knew that), you have estranged family members (that much was obvious). It still didn't explain why he's so angsty and has trouble showing his emotions, no background into what motivates his character, IMHO.
I don't have to have everything spelled out for me all the time, but I would like a little bit more explanation as to why Sheppard reacts a certain way to things. *sigh*
I liked Woolsey, a lot, to be honest.
Me, too.
It piqued my interest in the beginning of the ep when Teyla said Kanaan was back to his old self "in every way," and then she got this big smile. And I just watched the ep again, and I'm wondering if that was some sort of hint at. . . something. I don't know.

Truthfully, I just figured it was relief to have her people - including Kanaan - back and normalised. Although it was a bit of a cop-out on a Teyla-themed story to just normalise them without any trauma.
*sigh*
I'm beginning to feel cynical about the season again.

Not that different. I really like Ronon/Keller, mostly because I'm not convinced that Rodney would be a good relationship for anyone (okay, so maybe either Ronon or Teyla - or Carson - but that would be more a case of they're good for him, not he's good for them).
You've got a point about John shooting Jennifer if the antidote didn't work. But Teyla was willing to shoot John in The Long Goodbye, after all. So it's not only John who's capable of killing one person for the many.

Ah. Good point. I forgot about that moment. Would that make them even more compatable, or at least able to understand each other?

Since they don't give him character development: he saves the day, we find out about his past, but we don't usually get any insights into him - there's little personal connection.
At least one Sheppard-fan is getting narky in one of my playgrounds, trying to intimate that TPTB mustn't like Joe that much since they're not writing episodes that delve into Sheppard's background or character, beyond "he's the hero, he saves everyone."
